Divinity: Original sin 2 is objectively more of an RPG than BG though. There's literally nothing to do if you want to play as an evil character in BG, in DOS2 you can literally genocide an entire city with poison gas.

Beat both games. Companions are there for banter and some bonus quests. They don't really impose themselves on you like this soiboi cutscene retardation you find so common in modern games.
