a lot of stupid shit like effects that slog down any pc and could be made a lot more performant if made FOR that specific game.

Still used by most because free stuff already made > working to make an unique product.

So most basic shaders, structure of files, or even maps are made with a "generic" game in mind, and not for corner cases that eventually all games face and need optimization.

It will probably be pretty good. Russia is a shithole but Russian games tend to be based as fuck and without all the bullshit filler and politics Western games are infected with these days. Even the janky trashy Russian games like Insomnia The Ark or Desolate, ooze soul and passion from the guys who made them.

You just know they're toiling away in a dingy mouldy office somewhere in Moscow under fluorescent lights, hunched over CRT monitors, but still pouring all their love and heart into what they create

I expect it to garner some form of cult status as to did the first trilogy because let's be real. CoP, SoC and Clear Sky is in fact a trilogy. Besides that, nothing really my expectations are low and it's too early to tell as last I heard they were looking for a publisher. I have no real high hopes here other than maybe learning from past mistakes they can learn for better QA

i played SOC for 20 hours and it only crashed once.
played CS and COP for around 10 hours each and they didnt crash at all
