Critics aren’t even listing this as a top 50 game of the 2010s, is Persona 5 really THAT bad?

Yes, go play a real game like Nocturne.
>implying there weren't tons of good games over a decade
>Implying there weren't at least 50 good games in 10 years
>Caring about journos GOTD opinions about a game
Stop, this is obviously bait you fucking retard
Yes it is, the only way to fix it is to make it awesome
2010s were pretty fucking stacked, all things considered. I'd say I'm confident that I can name 50 games better than Persona 5. The honeymoon was nice, but now that people have had time to marinate on their thoughts and see the game for what it is, they'll realize it's a project that's all heart and limited execution.

A nice way of saying it became cool to hate on the game. Jesus christ, you're full of shit.
>I can name 50 games better than Persona 5
do it.
The other Persona games stood up to reevaluation just fine. Persona 5 just doesn't offer enough.
This. Yas Forums is full of posers now.
The main issue is that all the critical acclaim was due to games journalists not finishing the game. It has severe pacing issues that become clear at the end of the game. Once they finished the game, they lost interest.
Bro. Persona 5 would be awesome if it had BOOG FROM FANBOY AND CHUM CHUM
old game good
new game bad
It was a big, modestly high budget JRPG on the biggest console at the time, so it got a lot of press.
But given time to digest it more, most people realize it's a lot of style over substance, despite its attempt to do both.
I kind of want to play Royal just because I loved the city shenanigans so much but I don't want to have to suffer through the story shit again. Maybe I'll just skip it
Persona 4 the Golden came out that same decade though. With Persona 5 you can tell the reviewers that played the whole thing gave it an 8 vs those that just did the early game giving it a 9 or 10. The first castle is highly polished then it becomes mediocre for most of the game especially Haru's dad's place then it gets above average towards the end. The social aspects of the game are a step down from Persona 4 and 3.
Nobody can play it moron.
H-BOP
Persona 5 isn't even the best Megaten game to come out in the past decade.
What would that be, if you don’t mind me asking?
It's a generic jrpg with an interesting artstyle, what's so good about it?
Devil Survivor, SMT IV
>Devil Survivor
Based, same
>devil survivor
>past decade
Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker. SMTIV is also up there and Strange Journey Redux but one is a rerelease.
It's only that bad because the definitive edition hasn't come out on switch, with more content than the royal edition, it's the true way to play persona 5. Ontop of that, it ends with a teaser for the sequel and smtv.
We win again!
Technically, the rerelease came out in 2011. And if we’re going by the sequel, which is just as great as well, and its rerelease, it released on 2012 and 2015 respectively.
Not really. Compared to P5 they all look dated since it perfects the formula so thoroughly. Nothing really survives the test of time.
Oh i also heard this leak. It's pretty credible.
Based user
How? What do they do better?
JRPGs aren't good in the first place.
NPC are much better in P3 and P4 as there is some interaction and some fun side stories like the high school girl staking her crush only to lose interest while her crush starts staking her instead by the end of the school year in P3 or the classmate him asking you to get information on his crush in P4. In P5 the majority of npcs you only get to eavesdrop and it's mostly about the plot. So the world building is lacking.
P5 has those too tho
persona 4 is better
it doesn't matter when the girls are top 10 coomer material
Name one?
>game
>persona 5
maybe because it's 90% anime
SMT IV apocalypse was better than persona 5.
I vaguely remember a serial killer vagrant, but not being able to join a club in school kinda sucked. Other than your social links interaction with your teachers or classmates outside of class was lacking. The school newspaper girl was one of the few students willing to talk to you that wasn't a social link.
Persona 5 is good and most the bitching just comes from it being the most recent game in the series. Honestly, it goes back to the series roots more than 3 and 4 and practically everything about it is improved over 3 and 4
Newspaper club girl
Foreign barker
The girl with the dog in Yongen
The hobo with multiple personalities
The fat guy in Leblanc
Journalists are retarded as is everyone in this thread pretending it “got bad” when really they just became contrarian faggots and started following the hive mind autism of attacking persona 5.
>is Persona 5 really THAT bad?
Yes it is. I'm hyped for Persona 6 just to see if they can make something worse or if my bet will be correct and they rip off Attack on Titan for the plot.
5 is my first Persona and I'm liking it so far. If the others are indeed better then I am in for a treat.
persona 5 isn't a bad game but it offers nothing new to people who have played 3 and/or 4. It has pacing issues too so the game gets very boring and repetitive towards the end.
5 is the first SMT game i couldn't be bothered to finish and I got up to the casino dungeon.
>"the series roots"
>revelations persona
sure thing
Seriously cant wait for the definitive edition coming out on switch, with more content than the royal edition, it's the true way to play persona 5. Ontop of that, it ends with a teaser for the sequel and smtv.
We win again!
P5 is okay, but royal is a scam and doesn't deserve any fucking recognition, I hope it bombs.
>smt5
>the reason I bought a switch
don't tease me chad
It’s the best one. Remember, only poser try hards pretend it’s bad.
You seriously only bought a switch for a game without any gameplay trailers??
>P5 gets released on Switch before SMTV gets another trailer
I'd seethe.
I did; and I may have supported the mighty numbuh 9 scam, get a download key, forgot the password and bought the game at full price.
>Critics aren’t even listing this as a top 50 game of the 2010s
Because it isn't. Any Etrian Odyssey has more place in such a ranking.
I'm mostly talking about SMT and Persona 2.
The demon negotiation and ability to use guns are back. And although its not a gameplay mechanic like it was in Persona 2, it was cool to see rumors being spread about you around school and on the street.
can i have your switch if you're not using it
The newspaper girl was mostly parroting the plot.
The hobo ended up as a quest for a Social Link.
Did any of these you mention have a narrative that played out through the year or where just filler talking about the phantom thieves?
SMT/Persona was a niche series for the longest time. It only gained some popularity among casuals during the release of P4, and didn't become a household name until P5. Most people still didn't know about the series until Joker became a Smash character.
Also, we're talking 10 years of games. That's a fuck-ton of games. You can't be surprised that somebody isn't going to place a niche weeb game in their top 50, regardless of how comfy the game is.
Any of you guys buying Royal?
>loved P5 when it came out
>started hating it more and more when it got popular with normalfags and their dead horse beating of memes and "waifus"
>now hate P5 and call it shit
Anyone else do this
I'll grab it in a few months when it hits the bargain bin.
NOPE.
I'll emulate it though!
I purchased the game once, that should be enough.
Will wait for a more reasonable price before getting it. If it came out during the vacuum these last two months I might've been tempted, but with RE3 and FF7RE so close it'll be a waste of money.
It's annoying how stacked April and May is right now.
It's almost like a game can't use it's good soundtrack and style to carry it for 80 hours when pretty much everything else is shit.
no I don't have autism
