Being a mere game consumer is ok... but how is YOUR game going?
Being a mere game consumer is ok... but how is YOUR game going?
I've downgraded to making minecraft mods
It's ok. I just scrapped the whole thing, because I want to use an actual kinematic character controller rather than a cheap rigidbody one.
Exclusively because I want my platformer to have slopes.
Because I have autism.
How do you turn quantum computing into a game mechanic? How do you make a game where somebody will understand quantum computing after having beat it?
6 years in the making. Just need to do the last steps to finish it but I'm too fucking lazy.
Yas Forums has never made a good game why do these threads get made?
I was playing Rain World, and that game is way too fucking frustrating, so it spurred me to actually start making my game. Fuck Rain World.
awesome progress did you model that platform yourself?
I will never make a game. I will never make anything. I'm going to die here.

I like this series of videos, it looks pretty videogamey.
Does anyone remember a video of a tech demo where the guy explored a cavern with shifting walls? If I remember correctly, it was showcasing GPU computed physics or some shit like that, it had something to do with raymarching or something similar.
Guys, any tips for level desing ina soulslike kind of game? i have no idea on how to make it work
Do you actually have gameplay systems in place? I've found level design to be a lot easier when there's actual stuff to play with.
think of each encounter as a puzzle the player has to solve. and then string them together with empty ass cube rooms just like ds2
central hub location then just branch out paths to themed locations
make sure you have shortcuts every 10 minutes that keep the levels centralized and not incredibly tedious to travel through
What are some good stealth mechanics for a "nowaday" game?
>corona labs
oh nonononononon
Nevermind, found it

This user is farther along than a bunch of faggots posting in this thread.
At least he downloaded the goddamn software.
This. Build your character controller first. Then you can just fuck around in whatever maps you design and decide whether or not they're any good.
Finished adding billboards and ads to the first racial region, along with detailing in the form of lampposts and big rocky space pillars. Now I'm just gonna be testing it until the demo releases on Sunday.
been running through a godot platformer tutorial
i don't know if i'm lazy or just lack energy but it's been hard to get myself to do much beyond work and courses
i'm hoping it'll get easier to motivate myself if i learn more
Use premade assets. Don't use them for the actual game, just use them for learning.
Find some that are neat that you like.
It helps a lot.
Even in a shithole with a genetic pool as hopelessly polluted as Yas Forums, there's still a chance for the apperance of the kind of prodigy that only appears once every 1000 years.
Risk of Rain
what about it?
>Yas Forums has never made a good game
Bug Fables, World of Horror
Working on the castle and basic enemy spawning.
I STILL DONT KNOW HOW TO WRITE AN RPG OR DRAW, HELP!
Making a Resident evil 4 and X-files inspired 3rd person shooter that'll have an AI dog helper and you'll play as a cute fbi agent
Torque still fucking exists? I payed money for it when they first made it available and hacked around on it forever making some pretty shit games.
I need to make a shader that can make a texture more transparent so I can blit it properly. When they tell you not to use texture2d they aren't kidding.
Bad.
Everything still exists in some form or another.
Funny enough, I know how to write and draw, but not how to make a game
RPG Maker is pretty easy to use on its own. Good Luck on your RPG
I'm currently moving from planning, story, art, and music stuff to actual dev shit for my first project.
I've been really discouraged and demotivated because of depression and mental stuff lately but I'm trying to push through that and keep working and being productive.
>see an impressive tech demo by someone with a female name
>it is a tranny
Every single time
Tell them that their coding skills don't pass.
It isn't going and I'm not sure when it will be. I'm still learning the basics of C++ before I install an engine and while I'm having no issue grasping it, I worry that I'll be severely handicapped soon because my knowledge of math is comparable to that of a 3 year old's.
I don't understand the rationale behind this why don't you guys just go to agdg, it'll be better to have more congregated devs instead of an equal spread of nodevs, this is basically a general post anyways having the same three pictures and titles
competent and creative tranny dev >>>>>>>> man with no game
I’m making a wojack FPS
/agdg/ threads are just giant schizophrenic personality circlejerks. Its just shitposting and attention seeking nutjobs while people posting serious progress or questions are ignored.
Only slightly related to the thread, but I deeply regret choosing Computer Science as my major.
Programming is okay when it's for something I enjoy like a game, but for everything else it's like licking sandpaper.
be the change you want to see in the world user, show those discord fags what progress means
Kind of stuck between deciding whether to make a mobile gacha game or a skill-focused action game.
I know which one Yas Forums would prefer, but making money is probably a must for me right now.
>discord fags
Most of the discordfags don't even visit the threads any more.
They have all but divorced save for a choice few.
I wrote 4 lines of truly elegant code that allowed me to do some really cool stuff with 2D animated tiles. Unfortunately, this was done in a dream.
I am now awake, and depressed that I am actually more productive while asleep.
Not a game but I spent a whole weekend making a dumb Pokémon tool that barely got 10 likes on twitter dot com.
Highly demotivates me for when I finally decide to make something worthy.
At least you're not me. I decided to go into Computer Engineering cause I like video games and it sounded slightly better paying than Comp Sci.
If you thing programming is like licking sand paper you should try some hardware design...
I don't want to look at cris his degenerate fucking spam
>I make things only to get attention!
>Also btw I don't try to actually let people know I made something
>Wtf do you mean they don't even know my thing exists?
>trying to learn Unity ECS
>apparently jobs with entities is a completely separate thing from just regular jobs but whatever
>scour documentation and youtube videos to wrangle a job system together
>half of the API is deprecated or renamed to something slightly different
>the other half is some unintelligible mix of unmanaged memory, input dependencies, component systems, and interfaces
>want to pass the job system some data from a regular monobehaviour
>it's literally fucking impossible
I can't believe I'm getting brainlet filtered by Unity. What the fuck is this shit.
This summarizes it pretty well.
Any proof of concept/prototype is bombarded with "NOT A GAME" posts, self-made-enginefags shitting on others constantly, dick-measuring fights always going, barely any feedback is given and genuine questions are disregarded.
All that is not worth it just to be part of some cool kids club in some shithole board.
It's not attention, user. It's going to the trouble of working your ass on a program that not a soul downloaded.
How would you make everyone know your thing exists?
>Frog poster is a degenerate retarded autistic monkey nigger brainlet
Like pottery
I am in the planning stages of a game that is going to revolve around (a more pop-sci rendition) of quantum physics, and i'm really glad that you shared this video user. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I bet you spam there with "ideas"
Then tell me how to inject at NativeArray, faggot.
Marketing is just as important as the product itself, and on top of that you have to make sure your product is fulfilling a need if what you care about is downloads.
Unless it's a pure passion project, you should consider your audience when making something.
This is a good learning point if you want to continue creating.
Nah, I know how to make my own games and art. If I ever do post something on those/these threads it's always something that at least I think looks decent enough.
Finally bit the bullet and started making a roguelike as my first project. It's just following tutorials right now but once the frameworks built maybe I'll expand it or maybe I'll have enough confidence to work on that JRPG idea I've been kicking around in my head
I know this well, but I never considered marketing for a dumb fan project.
If I ever put out a decent game project I'll have to think of marketing thoroughly or find someone who knows what he's doing.
I can't draw I don't want to draw and I don't want to make a game I didn't make completely. What do I do?
Start drawing. Certain threads here or on Yas Forums post art programs and artbooks. Or pick up a pencil and paper. You will hate what you draw 90% of the time, but draw past that and make complete doodles (don't bin it the moment it BEGINS to look ugly). You will eventually bring that percentage of failures down to 80%,then 70%, etc. You just have to keep doing it bro.
Start drawing
Its a crappy alpha but here you go
drive.google.com
Stil in the....research...phase. Yeah, research.
don't have a single idea on how to turn it into a decent project
