A character with psychokinesis in a game where you WANT to have physics to play with isn't an awful idea. Just appeared in an awful game where none of it worked. Shadow on the other hand is irredeemable. He started out as "evil main character" then became a way to pander to GTA's popularity. Of all the autistic debates over which Sonic character is the biggest slut, people forget it isn't any of the women. It's Shadow. Silver is unironically one of the few legit good Sonic characters, he has cool power but it's not a try-hard edgy shit, he's serious but only because he takes stuff seriously since he comes from an apocalyptic world, not because he must be "adult and deep", and despite his seriousness he's still a nice and pure guy, and balancing this there are some vulnerable character traits like being socially dumb and sometimes insecure or just naive so he's not your perfect gary stu either
Silver is a top tier character in this franchise, he just was unlucky he debuted in a bottom tier game

You can ignore 06, all you need to know is that Blaze was summoned to Silver's world off-screen and the two of them became friends and fought a monster all time until some time travel happened and poof nothing happened so who cares, all you need to know is that they used to be great friends

I never played 06 but I like him in the comics. The whole "boohoo my future" seems annoying at firs. But he's the only one to be really naïve and nice with others. He's a power creep who's here to explain the stakes of the plot but he's also a comic relief.
