Some spoiler-free newbie advice:
Dont buy food directly from grocery shops, only snacks (kids trade crazy stuff for these). Stock up on food, you'll always be starving.
Every kind of NPC will trade for different stuff, women will want sewing supplies and soap, men lockpicks and weapons, kids snacks. They also give different things.
There are some items that are worth a lot of money you can sell at shops like pocket watches, rings and other jewelry
Never sell water bottles and herbs. Try to collect a lot of herbs in the steppe at night in the first few days and brew some medicine asap.
Talk to everyone, always. They'll tell you a lot about the town, and sometimes give you clues about your missions.
Dont worry about dying, it's part of the game.

I wouldn't count on it and I'd be surprised if we ever even get another game in the same scope as The Void or Pathologic 2 from IPL ever again. Besides it depends: did IPL achieve everything they wanted with The Void that they set out to do? It was my understanding that P2 was made because they wanted to go back and realize the potential that didn't manifest itself when they made it the first time.

Bachelor, hands down. The only people who think he's an asshole or something are hcuckguy fans because they never played the game and listened to some retard's butchering the story interpretation.
The Bachelor's lifework is being actively sabotaged by the authorities before the game starts and he comes to the town out of desperation only to find that the only person that could help him got killed, then he witnesses on his first day in town how a seemingly innocent women gets burned alive based on superstition. Everyone treats him with suspicion and they keep on manipulating him to do their dirty work in the local politic/ power play game. He begrudgingly goes with it especially when he realises how dangerous the plague is simply because he needs information that no one is willing to give to him.
His only friends are schizos, sluts and alchoholics and the only thing that keeps him mentally stable is an impossible structure. When he finally enters it he finds paradise while the people in the town murderrob each other and the kin chimps out/ helps the plague/ do kinigger shit.
they have essentially the same plot except 2 is fleshed out a bit more in terms of people's motivations. downside is 2 currently only has 1 of 3 sides of the story.
but yes, if you know the general story beats of one game you know them in the other game.

I also love Changeling's VA in the original, even though I hate the character. Hell, I even liked Block even if he's relatively one dimensional compared to the other characters. Notkin is my ideal of a son and he is to be protected at all costs.
