For example, Dragalia Lost has a character named Silke. In the dub, she's voiced by an older woman and is portrayed as being a haughty old woman. In the original, she's voiced by Aoi Yuki and is portrayed as a cheerful, enthusiastic little girl. Completely different character portrayals.
But in DL's case, I can play with the JP voices.

Mismatch in voice. This is more the director's fault than hers, but she could at least have tried softening the voice a bit. You know, do some research on the character before opening your mouth. Forget about the JP voice, let's assume she's naive to it. Fiora has no particular personailty trait to give her a deeper voice, instead of commanding but soft voices like Thea, Cordelia or Hinoka. Why wouldn't she attempt it then?

It's the nature of language and one's ability to make things understandable to a foreign reader, while preserving the writers original intent and meaning, while also simply making it sound natural and using good prose.

Now we're not only rewriting the script into another language by having an entirely new talent pool read from it. You have literally no taste if you think that new group reading from a new script under different direction will be automatically equal to the original.
