It's essentially a not-arch tempered Great Jagras that's fuckin huge, and after he eats he'll puke up tons of feystones.

They eat Raphinos, but are ridiculously territorial chickens. You so much as get in their line of sight once and they'll go ballistic and try to kill you. I normally catch monsters cause I feel bad killing the ones that are just trying to eat and survive in their ecosystem, but I have zero qualms about killing Legiana. The damn birds deserve it.

Jagras drops a lot more decorations during the hunt, but they are lower tier.
Lavasioth drops less decos, but his kill rewards are more likely to be high quality decos.
Jagras if you want to stock up on general decos
Lavasioth if you're going for the rare ones like Guard Up

After only playing with mhg for a while, I've come to the point where I just can't really have fun by myself or even worse with randos anymore.
/mhg/ rooms are always filled with the hardest tempered investigations which are tons of fun cause most people actually know what they're doing. You can trust other hunters to deliver on the qualities their weapon boasts in order to elevate your own playstyle beyond what was possible with the usual shitters. I'm sick and tired of random faggots who do nothing but chug potions for the entire hunt while you do all the hard work, not too mention that's its more or less impossible to take on any of the hardest investigation using an SOS signal because 99% of the time there's at least one shitter who carts 3 times within 5 minutes. This is in contrast with /mhg/ rooms where you can have fun hunting tempered rajang without it being a guaranteed waste of time.
Like seriously, go do some tempered rajang quests with randos, especially the ones with 20 min time limit and low cart tolerances, and keep count of the successes and fails. Your chances of completing a single investigation are slim to none.

I really wish that placing gunlance WSB were less annoying and that they would reduce the recoil recoveries from placing it as well as doing a full burst, and also increase the hopping distance so that EE1 is the standard hop distance. That sure would be fun.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but the "loading your Gunlance with WSB" animation blocks attacks, and can be chained into the WSB stab. If you time it right you can block a monster charging you and plug them up while they're recovering.

I'm aware, but the guard point is really shitty. It takes too long to activate and it stops working once you've unloaded the WSB which leaves you in a recoiled animation for like 2 seconds. WSB takes so fucking long to unload you either have to wait for the monster to be downed or deal with the fact that most monsters are just too fast and will punish you for using the move.

Waiting for the monster to be downed isn't a big deal when you have wallbangs, the "please clutch me" animation, and the naturally high flinch/knockdown rate of GL, plus you never really have to plug up a monster more than 2 or 3 times.
The long ass animation a small price to pay to consistently shit out 1000 damage in 5 seconds

Every single time he does that attack I get hit by one of the explosions because I 1) can't make it underneath his body in time, 2) I can't get out of the way because they cover the entire map, and 3) can't go between the explosions because for whatever reason there isn't enough room between them to be safe, and 4) he instantly paw slaps before the explosions even trigger.

I use rocksteady all the time as a GS main. It's basically the "no bullshit" mantle

I'm sure it's good but I HATE covering up my armor set and the idea that i'm going to be a useless piece of shit while the mantle is on cooldown is just unappealing to me. Plus I'd have to redo radial menus, and I play 5 weapons so I have enough sets to fuck around with without worrying about adding specific elemental mantles to the mix.

Guild Palace and Ruiner are your alternatives kinda. Namielle is deceptively good. Strength and Spirit boost, 10 base affinity, decent sharpness, rarity 11 augment privileges and customer augments can give you a glaive competitive with the best of them.

There is no "build" which is the beauty of it. You get an Elemental-boost glaive, either Gleambeetle Velox (more damage, KO damage) or Foliacath Forz (more speed, cutting), give it the appropriate element for what you're fighting. Feed it good slinger ammo (pierce, bomb, etc) and just spam the shit out of it. I tried it the first time against Brachy last night, Ice Gleambeetle did ~35-40 damage a hit on shitzones and ~70-80 on weakzones. It doesn't seem like a lot but it still went in 8 minutes.

Why do you even need lures so much? Refresh zones and check what spawned in GL, you'll get whatever monster you need in a few minutes.

This just cements for me that Nargacuga's theme is the most overrated re-arranged track in World, it's weak as fuck compared to the original.

It's monster hunter and the biomes don't really make sense.
Every monster is cosmopolitan in their associated biomea, if you can fight stuff like rajang and Jho in a cold map, you'll find them in any other cold map no matter the location in the non-existent lore.
Just how you'll see tons of World monsters showing up in the old world for future games, like how every new 4th and 3rd gen monsters got retconned into the old maps on Gen

The whole premise of Monster Hunter is choosing skills to counter a monster or to empower your weapon, so when Arena quests routinely do neither, it's awful.

The Arena would be much less offensive it was entirely optional content but for some reason they have to tie it into other stuff. And yes, it's a polarised experience where you and a friend bash an encounter in 5 minutes or you struggle for 20 minutes solo for 1/3rd of the rewards. The Arena is trash.

AT monsters were endgame high rank. You can do them before reaching IB for the sake of challenge, but there's no real reason to do them now outside of layered armor.

AT is endgame for base World. The only reason to do them now is for Layered Armor.

If you're doing Kinsect memebuild then it matters, otherwise not really.

The only reason I would bother to change them is if you're fighting Lavasioth, since Fire Kinsect attacks will melt his armor. I don't know if there are other interactions that would matter.

If you have MHW+IB, base game will be easy mode thanks to clutch claw and defender equip if you use it.

IB: You need to use CC now. Everything has like 3x HP, first few fights will take you like 20min until you get your first MR weapons and armor. Fun after that.

QS is fine for Frostcraft builds since you're likely getting points in it anyways and you need to keep sheathing.
If you're not using Frostcraft, Divine Blessing is better to help mitigate damage from tackling.

Divine Blessing 5 isn't unreliable at all.

I can tell when people have never tried it because they trot this line out. In practice it procs all the time against small hits which then doubles the effectiveness of your health regen, keeping you out of cart range most of the time. Because of this, you can be more aggressive leading to more damage uptime in regular fights. It's also a 50% chance to survive the big hits in the case that you do get caught out, which is a nice bonus.

It's actually busted for general play, the only skills in the game that are nearly as good are Health Boost 3 and the three Affinity skills. You won't need it for TA autism but outside of that, it's crazy strong and it comes on good armor with good skills and slots, too.

It sure speeds up the fucking hunt more than waiting for the couple of attacks that will let you clutch instead.
The fact that extra utility is added to already busted mantles shows how little effort capcom put into balancing this shit.

It's fantastic against vaal farts because everything is multi-tick damage and not as good against a single big hit, in terms of reliability. Generally I find it to be reliable enough since most of the time you get 2-3 shot (or more) rather than one-shot.

Making your hunter naked is boring, being presented with random sets and loadouts and figuring out the optimal solution while showcasing your understanding of the weapon is fun.

It's not gambling if it prevents you carting 100% of the time.

The problem people have with DB is that they try to rely on it. DB is NOT a skill that you rely on like Health Boost, it's a safety net that saves you when you that you don't notice all the time. You don't take more risks expecting DB to save you, you play like you don't have it, and when you do fuck up and take a big hit, you can thank the skill when you don't get one shot.

Divine Blessing isn't a safety net, though.

It cuts down on the damage of chips and weak hits that otherwise would put you in carting range, allowing you to regen up to full and out of carting range. If you aren't using the Health Regen augment it's probably not worth it.

The 50% chance to not cart from a big hit is an extra bonus.

I kinda wish RE Vaal was the actual one because zombify makes this fight actually interesting, since it is helpful but at the same time potentially dangerous.
Miasma is just way too dangerous for its own good, so you just remove it most of the time and don't even get to see his attacks that just affect infected players

Follow these simple rules user:
1) Firemantle when possible
2) Keep healthbar ALWAYS above 3/4 of health. Better to waste recovery items than be carted
3) If you have a lot of trouble with a monster, just get health-boost. At least lvl 2 should do it, but 3 will make you feel the difference. Better to spend a little but in availability than to be a shitter who gets carted all the time (just don't make your set full def focus)
4) You can, in fact, superman-dive away from him. Each one of those counts as a roll, it will eventually dissipate the blast status
5) In conjunction with rule 4, don't panic-heal. Plan accordingly and don't tunnel-vision the fight. Look at the monster and you're surroundings, superman-dive when needed, and get to a safe place to heal

DB5 is a 50% to deduce damage by 60%. Anything below that is not worth using.

It's basically a 30% EHP increase on top of Health Boost.

I think I figured out why MR brachy is such an annoying fight. Almost all of his moves ends with him out of range to do any attacks, and by the time you've sheathed and ran after him, he's already in the middle of another one.
