i mean the argument is semi valid: we are talking about people dieing here. it is clear that we should slow down the spread of the virus to ensure our hospital system does not get choked on new patients. however these drastic measures will cripple our lives for the coming years because we have completely killed the economy and will be paying shitloads of money for welfare programs. it is fucking insane and it makes no sense at all.

in holland we have new elections march 2021. our current prime minister has saved a lot on hospitals here and our intensive care beds have dropped a lot. there is currently NO narrative anywhere accusing our prime minster that he has saved too much money crippling our hospital system. i dont understand.

it is clear that this virus is more deadly than the flu. yearly flu also gives us excess mortality and right now we have a very high mortality rate. but not extreme. i'd say that per OPs articles mortality rate is at most 0.4%
