That is bullshit. $50,000 after tax in the USA is like top 20%. You just do not see the bottom 50% of their society as they are either in Jail, working 4 jobs or isolated in an Economic wasteland in the inner city or rural areas.

Not always. Good medical plans cover us well. My work pays for 100% of my premium and I had to get CT scans, X-rays and a surgery two months ago. It cost me less than $1,200 for all of it. I hit my deductible and any medical treatment moving forward has no out-of-pocket cost. That $1,200 is FAR less than I would pay the government in taxes for universal medical care. The treatment itself is faster and better than if it was gov't run. There are years where I don't even see the doctor. Why would I want to pay to cover everyone else on those years by paying the government to give us universal healthcare? It's almost like the US is not a socialist country and we're responsible for our own well being.
My take home pay after all taxes and payments towards health and dental plan is just over $50k.
