Still impressive nonetheless. It worked to keep out the smaller tribes. The Great Wall of China had a similar purpose. While it kept out smaller tribes, it failed in keeping out the Mongols.

Unironically, Africa needs the rest of the world to recover before it can. They simply lack the intellectual manpower, and infrastructure, to recover. A lot of Africa is underdeveloped due to environment. A lot of the early and greatest civilizations were made near rivers, which gave them a headstart in fishing and growing crops. Kingdom of Benin was a bit lucky here. Africans born near the middle of Africa had nothing to do and mostly focused on art, music, and other leisure activities. A lot of nice instruments were made.

My Dad has already built a house in Nigeria, and is in the process of building another.
