1) H1B candidates pad their resumes with tons of buzzwords and terms that get them through the screening. The opposite is a Canadian candidate who is so humble and kind, they don't know how to brag.
2) Tech companies quickly paint you as a racist and bigot if you even question the idea of in-sourcing. It's a forbidden topic.
3) Recruiting programs pick a small handful of colleges and have diversity quotas that exclude almost every white male. You get a tiny sample of locals to compete against a billion Indians.
The deck is stacked against US citizens - who aren't greedy and demanding too much.
They come from a shit hole country, literally shit in the streets. They're dying to come here for any wage, significantly under market rate. Once hired they tend not to complain or make demands, with the employer holding the visa over their heads, ready to kick their asses back at a moment's notice. The ideal employee.
There are firms showing companies how to hire H1Bs rather than Americans, and documentaries about the process. Companies are instructed to place impossible to fill job ads. Experience on some obscure platform for 5 years, blah blah. Company says oh no, we couldn't get anyone to fill the job. The get the H1Bs.
It's such a huge, horrible fucking scam. Americans aren't getting hired. The work H1Bs do is mediocre. Their schools in India are a joke, or they just flat out get fake degrees. And the whole thing continues because at numerous points along the way, the recruiters, hiring mgrs, and govt officials, are all on the take for each one hired.
