You can use it as a prophylaxis which is what I am doing. I use 30mg zinc every two days and 500mg of Quercetin twice a day.
Quercetin has been tested and found to be generally safe up to 5,000mg without issue.

They recommend no more than 4000IU but given ~50% of Americans are deficient and you need at least 6000IU to treat that I settled on 5000IU. You can use it in even higher dosages(up to 10000IU) but it does accumulate in the body so you want to be safe
