% of population doesnt matter jack shit. Population density dictates how many get sick. if the virus spreads in around the same pop density areas it'll spread at around the same rate regardless of total amount of pop

Population density.
Uk has a higher population density than Sweden, Sweden has a higher population density than Norway.

The closer together you are the faster it spreads, the higher the deaths. Add in a good public transportation system and you have a massive amount of germ sharing.

I dont know, but if you look at the numbers, yes.
They have only 526 ICU bed. They had 1,435 ICU hospitalisations and 2,462 deaths (so far). This, less ICU hospitalisations than deaths, haven't happen in any other countries i can think of. You always have more ICU hospitalisations than deaths in other countries. So yeah, they have been overwhelmed if you look at those numbers.

Comparing this year's death rate to that of recent years' gets rid of the difference caused by how different countries test/report. Only Sweden and Denmark on pic related, but as can be seen Sweden is doing way worse.

Sweden has a higher urbanisation compared to the UK, sweden has 87% vs 83% for the UK.

Meaning most people in Sweden live in cities.

Also stockholm has a higher population density as compared to london.

Denmark doesn't seem that bad based on their population density, which many claim why NYC and countries were hit so hard.

we in the US are shut down because they predicted 2M deaths. based on this they shut everything down because it would supposedly overwhelm hospitals. then reduced it to 250k, now its predicted to be about 70k . the hospitals are empty. except for NYC which is garbage anyway.

all that will happen, if lockdowns are the difference, is that norway and finland will have spikes while sweden will have already heard immunity and opened up. "flatten the curve" doesnt affect total deaths

The only way we get "excess deaths" is because people are dying of other things, like heart attacks and other cronic diseases because people fear of getting infected and stopped going to the doctor or hospital.

They've increase total ICU up to 1096. Currently 559 of those occupied and another 1884 non-ICU hospitalizations. Still, as you say, less ICU hospitalizations than deaths. Make of that what you will.
