Don't know how it is in the rest of the world but in America, naturally, the small percentage of cringe reddit types always get shown in the media as the entirety of libertarianism to steer people away.

Why aren't they just ancaps? Not many people are proponents of absolute freedom. They always draw the line at some point and say: "anything beyond this point is bad and should be prevented using the force of the state". So for most people, freedom is not something that is absolute and is more akin to a continuous scale, and libertarians simply sit at a very "liberal" position on that scale. The question is then, is where they sit the objectively best position, or is more or less freedom better.

A lot of people drive trucks. There are some who take it to the cringe levels but most just drive it for the utility.

Libertarians are more like vegans. Almost all of them have to tell you about it. It's like they have obtained some divine knowledge and understanding of the universe. While a truck isn't the most fuel efficient vehicle, it is the most utilitarian and capable type of vehicle, and there really isn't any argument against that notion.
