Not that I have ever been there - but I farm currently in Illinois. Benefits we have here are high water table, so only irrigation is underground. No sprayers or anything. Also some of the most fertile soil in the world. Worst we have is flooding as our soil drains poorly.

That being said, I'd imagine I could farm enough to feed myself and maybe sell produce up there. I imagine the soil there is pretty shit to what I'm used to, though. How many warm months do you have? Any humidity in the air?
