The profession of History study is dying for a similar reason photography died and continues to die to the invention of the digital camera where everyone can get a perfect photo or video every time.
History used to be important because the only way the next generation could be brought to understand about how to think about the past, was either to read boring textbooks, or to have a teacher teach you.
And so you're about as dumb as rocks like people entering the profession of cotton-picker during the age after the cotton-picking machine had proven it's 100x cost effectiveness.
Choose a different major now unless you want to be an artifact to history, and be a history teacher or some dogshit pivot from that.
What do you like?

>I am studying history you can be a high school teacher... and thats about it
If you think a piece of paper guarantees you to a job you’re already behind the curve. In reality most of your job prospects should come from networking.
Use Meetup and other sites to find various events, conferences and seminars to get yourself out there. Actually chat with people so they know you’re not a mongoloid and hint that you’re looking for a position somewhere. If you’re competent enough you will figure it out.

FUCK, seriously? I like film, into sports, reading philosophy from time to time.
Jason Price
>going to university >not studying a STEM field At least pick up a minor in something numbers related, for your own good.
Xavier Harris
What if I'm too retarded for STEM? I tried to go and study geophysics but I couldn't get the right grades.
Jeremiah Cook
Yeah, I used to be gay too, before I had grow up and make money in the real world.
Brandon Gray
Do a full 180 on your chosen career path and major in business.
Well what were you expecting out of something like history? STEM + Health and Business are the majors that will get you something beyond a monkey job, but for business it's almost imperative to pair it with some technology education as well.
Christopher Allen
Study business or economics or accounting
Kevin Ward
>seriously? more or less. You can try to compete for a doctorate if you have a an edge or a skill you can combine, otherwise its being destroyed by females. History these days is just sociology because of all the females flooding into the field. They all bring their political bullshit with the and they erode humanities by problematizing contemporary politics.
Goes back to the four olds and the cultural revolution the EU is currently conducting. Architecture, arts, history, culture, folk arts, litterature and philosophy all replaced with modernism and academic marxism. Everything is about contemporary problems, even things like history and ancient philosophy.
Destruction of the Nation state, destruction of arts, destruction of architecture, destruction of ethnicities, destruction of philosophy and destruction of history. If you read up you'll see recognized and intelligent professors use all sorts of strange and bizarre reasons to excuse this.
Im sure at least a dozen people tried to warn you. Do you know any historians? This happens every year. >child: im gonna get a degree and make $300k starting any job I want >adult: That wont happen >child: reeeee what would you know youre poor im gonna be rich!
Brandon Harris
Explain for a brainlet like me. How easy is it and are the job markets competitive? see, History was not my first choice I will look into it, thanks. Figures I guess, considering my lecturers are all women. Computer Science right? I did badly at a secondary school level, I doubt at uni it gets easier.
Elijah Martin
You'd be surprised at the amount of people here who studied history
Noah Walker
Business then
Caleb Morgan
Hilariously, when I told my parents I wanted to do geophysics they were anxious and recommended history (i know, i'm stupid).
Austin Watson
>Figures I guess, considering my lecturers are all women. I studied history ages ago. Thank god it wasn't completely shit back then. Prepare for everything to be politized and about contemporary left wing politics. Just looking through a bunch of these lectures from today and looking at those 20 years ago should redpill anyone on how universities are changing to accommodate fringe lefty politics.
Daniel Williams
Tbf man with a history degree in the UK, you can do masters in some more specialised stuff such as interpol, strategy/security degrees etc or go into the police as a detective with it
Isaiah Hall
But dont be completely discouraged, most of the people i knew went on to go into other academic fields or combined history with something else.
Adam Morris
Really? Could you provide evidence of this to help, would appreciate it Yeah, well my school is essentially to epitome of what you've described in essentially every aspect
Jason Jenkins
>/adv/ is basically r*ddit This. What happened to that board? Used to be a good one.
Dylan Hill
Just understand your job prospects do not improve greatly with a History degree. But that's not to say it's a bad idea either. It's an investment into your own mind and own education to make, I just hope you're not overpaying or above 30k in debt for this degree. Pursuing a higher degree after though, can possibly better your prospects. I know Law is a big one for history majors who still want a high salary.
Christian Sanchez
Imagine spending time and money to study 'history' is the Age of Lies.
sorry bro On the upside i believe this is a shift in the ideological paradigm which has eroded western education for close to 50 years. We are seeing the old guard desperately trying to make excuses for progressive ideas and cultural misinterpretations in order to facilitate economic policies that goes against the foundations of their ideological beliefs.
Thomas Mitchell
>I wanna study history Libraries are free OP.
Nathaniel Garcia
>History You essentially will not have a degree unless you go to graduate school. There are no jobs for BA's in history. I majored in philosophy and psychology and am certified in Asian studies with a focus on the Japanese language. After graduating I sent out applications to every business in my county which paid over minimum wage. Not a single one called me back. I managed to get an $11/h job working with autistic children but only as a result of their job postings being circulated through the school email for psych majors, which I occasionally check. It is a hard job with very little pay and is not worth having gone to school for 5 years and maintaining a 3.0. Switch your major to IT, user. Friend of mine got an $80,000 salary plus benefits to work from home immediately after graduating a few years back. He puts in maybe an hour of work each day.
Nicholas Watson
Damn, oh well thanks for the advice man. I'm only in my first year so I'll see how I feel in the summer and re evaluate things. I'll try the lawyer thing, I think that is something I will be able to work on. Thanks
Adrian Watson
Np bro and remember there are always opportunities if you're creative enough to find them.
"2.1 Honours degree or non-UK equivalent in politics, international relations, history, area and cultural studies, law, sociology, criminology, human geography, computing science, language sciences, global studies, psychology, media studies and journalism, modern languages or business. Other disciplines will be considered on an individual basis. Applicants with a relevant work experience background in the fields of policing, security, intelligence and risk analysis will also be considered."
"People from a range of backgrounds and degree disciplines join the Intelligence Officer Development Programme. To apply you’ll need to have, or be expecting, a 2:2 in any degree discipline or have relevant work experience."
There's similar stuff around but I'm too lazy to find more
