You could pull up similar stats for ordinary influenza. Most people who get influenza dont need hospitalization, those who do are most at risk of dying.

Nope, the study is comparing the crude hospitalization death rate with that of ebola and it's on par. I think YOU'RE forgetting that deaths outside of hospitals are double what they are inside them.

Oh I'm sorry, the ebola death rate is only calculated using CONFIRMED cases, not TOTAL CASES. Actual ebola infections are likely far higher than those which present in hospitalization, allowing many ebola cases to go undetected.
