My job has me traveling a lot locally right now and I was wondering if I could use an old phone (android default) to run social media accounts to post controversial content without it getting back to me. Running a Linux equivalent (I'm a noob) OS on the phone and making sure location sensors were in check.
Post only from free public coffee shop WiFi for example.
Advice, tips and suggestions please.

So long as you do nothing else, no logins, no apps aside from bloatware/default web browser, you should be good.
Depends how secure you need to be. If you're concerned about feds trying to identify you, your best bet is a laptop (bought in store with cash) and run Tails on it. Still keep in mind there are security cameras at places with public wifi.
If you are not concerned about feds, just nosy SJWs, then your idea should in theory work, as long as you don't fuck up and do something dumb to link it to yourself.

buy a new tracfone smartphone with cash at walmart or someplace. don't activate it or anything, just use it for wifi in public places, never turn it on at home and let it connect to any network which can be traced to you and you are golden. Disable your harddrive via BIOS and boot from a Live USB like everyone else.
Use adblock browser. Set up the phone with a dummy email address that you use ONLY for shitposting. Don't be tempted to use it to buy something from a website that you think will spam your email.
Make sure any social media accounts are fully bullshit personal details and you don't access them on any other device or access your real accounts on the shitpost machine. Just keep things separate and you will be fine.
