Growing up I was constantly labeled “acting white” by my peers and classmates. Reading articulately, participating in class, having interests beyond the stereotypical bullshit. One of the major problems in my community is this idea that acting in anyway beyond the status quo labels you an outsider. It’s not genetics or racism, it’s this idea that certain behaviors are cool and promoted.
If the black community focused on truly raising our youth with role models that aren’t stereotypical I think you’d see changes over generations.
