Let me define prepping: having a few weeks worth of food on hand, as well as some necessities for living (toiletries, a first aid kit, etc.) isn't prepping; it's just smart living. Everyone not living paycheck to paycheck should be able to do this (even now). Planning for the apocalypse is fucking stupid though, and if that's the type of mindset you're living with, I think the least of you're worries is what supplies you have on hand. To be fair though, you don't really lose anything by prepping - except for some floor space and sanity - and at the end of the day, I guess it would be better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
