ITT: Discuss the recent SCOTUS decision to render NYSRPA v NYC moot, and Brett Kavanaugh's spicy concurrence.
QRD: Yesterday, 4/27, the SCOTUS declared NYSRPA moot. This case was holding up a mountain of firearms litigation. In his concurrence with the majority, Kavanaugh stated that the Supreme Court should use existing 2A cases on the docket to make sure the lower courts were correctly applying Heller and McDonald - pic related.
Kavanaugh's record on gun rights is good, and you can read this SCOTUSblog piece for a summary - scotusblog.com
Suffice to say, it seems Kavanaugh is ready to BTFO the grabber agender.
Yesterday, after the decision to moot NYSRPA, 10 cases were all distributed for Friday's conference, on May 1st. Some of these havent had any movement since March of 2019.
What does this mean? It means on Friday, four very angry justices - Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Thomas, 2 on the concurrence that NYSRPA should have BTFO NYC in the first place, one who's ready to make sure Heller gets applied, and one who think the 2nd amendment is a constitutional orphan, will decide what 2a cases they want to hear.
Among them are "may-issue" carry laws out of NJ and MD, as well as AWBs out of Massachussets.
It is very possible, I think, that the grabber agender is completely BTFO in the next year based on the record of these justices and what they've recently written.
Discuss here.

related, the ten cases labeled "distributed for conference" date 5-1-2020. You can look into each of them individually if you wish.
The most important two, IMO, are Worman v Healey, AWB in Mass, and Rogers v Grewal, may-issue carry from NJ.

bump for a real thread
Nice. Get bent, gribbidy grabbidy jerks .
Oh, did they final decide to hear ‘86s FOPA cases? No? Then they are still traitors.
Okay, and why do you care, Japan?
Dont you have an non funcitonal air rifle to pretend to fire?
>we didnt score a touchdown in this play so we shouldnt even bother to begin with
Its progress towards the goal japan. Also while this is good news I'm worried that Roberts might cuck out.
I dont think he will.
I don't think you can concur on Heller, and then turn around and not apply Heller as it was written, especially with how involved he was on that decision.
Bamp
It’s not even a bad ruling. NY dropped the bill because they knew better and Kav said let’s do 2A stuff soon. No matter how you slice it this is a win for the gun guys. NY dropped it and it’s not in the courts interest to drag on to rule on a non issue when they can drop some real meat on the other related cases
Exactly this, especially with how much SUBSTANCE is on the docket right now. Consider the primary platforms of the grabber agenda:
1) To ban so called assault weapons
2) To prevent people from being armed on the street
They moved to conference multiple cases tackling these EXACT issues, with statements like "make sure lower courts correctly apply Heller" and "the second amendment is a constitutional orphan" floating around.
I fully expect at least one or both to be heard, though it is likely the cases will still be pending this calendar year for decision.
Yea I agree its a good ruling, and I hope to see more 2A stuff go through the courts soon.
so they're ignoring this case to focus on other cases?
They said this case was moot because it was.
While dissapointing, I think the mootness decision was appropriate from a legal strandpoint. But they're not "ignoring" anything
When do you think we're gonna hear about the other cases
If RBG passes (assuming a lack of baby blood and foreskins) will we see a 2A revival?
I think we're already in the midst of a 2A revival, if you look around the country at constitutional carry laws, for example, this is easy to see. This hasn't been a red letter year because of VA, but otherwise we're doing well - in states that weren't already NY tier, anyway.
The earliest we can hear about which cases theyre gonna grant cert to is Monday, May 4th.
Virginia was good for momentum but bad for legislation. But we will see how that goes in terms of compliance come July 1st
>Monday, May 4th.
A lot going on that day
I wish we had less blacked and CVG posters to bump threads like these that matter.
Bump for interest
bump because /k/ommandos need all the help
>This hasn't been a red letter year because of VA, but otherwise we're doing wel
We will see what happens with VA. I think there is a good set up to get the bulk of what the Dems wanted knocked down.
I wish I could share your optimist, in SVOTUS and in the fact that we are doing anywhere close to well of it comes to 2a.
When will the SCOTUS look at blatantly unconstitutional red flag laws that areprevalent in 18 states+district of Columbia.
These aren't just anti 2a, the due process in these states is absolutely dead.
The fact that you just mention the VA makes me think you are optimistic because you don't know a lot about the true state of the 2a and the due process in this country.
I think that SCOTUS acted exactly as predicted and rendered the case "moot". That is not a surprise or shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. It's also not good news, it's actually bad news. SCOTUS avoids 2a like a fire and I don't expect anything good to come out of them listening to minor shit related to the 2a. There are some huge things that they could look into. I also don't think that the red flag laws are being challenged on this level just yet, but the Supreme Court could at least get an opinion OUT on these. It's an easy fucking thing and the state wide red flag laws are unconstitutional, but hey, lets work on some minor shit so the pleb is happy that we are doing anything?
The harm suffered by New Yorkers remains unaddressed.
rich guys don't want you armed so they can spray bioweapons on you and record the medical data on an app on your phone
they want to shoot you with lasers from space for wrong think, China already does this so stay out of big housing project buildings
if you don't have a rifle you can't shoot the drone thats deploying weapons against you, that drone could be from anyplace, every nation has these, so the wall is there to keep you in as well as keep them out, we need immediate 24/7 border security footage monitored by citizens at all times, real time reporting and investigation on the entire US border by all law enforcement and civilian defense corps
To add:
Beers vs Bar is a prelude to challenging the premise of the red flag laws and I see it as on the docket
Let's see how it turns out, but I wouldn't have my hopes up.
And this. SCOTUS ruling moot is what everyone expected. And I mean everyone that is actually interested in the 2a and wants the right preserved.
SCOTUS is political because the judges that are appointed vote along the party lines on the issues, they don't cote along liberal /conservative split even.
And the 2a is under the attack by both parties. So I wouldn't expect anything great coming out of there.
I hope your are right, bring Californian is suffering especially being a gun owner.
Bumpf
Wow, I don’t even know how to respond to an actually decent thread. Bump for quality
All I want is 50 state carey reciprocy. Trump promising that, and deregulation of suppressors are the 2 of the biggest reasons I voted for him.
leftoids who supported graboids wanted to buy guns recently because of panic and fear of nigger riots, they were very upset when they found out what their gun laws actually were.
Oh please I want open carry and concealed carry to not require any license period
Bump, because this actually is one of the best threads on Yas Forums now.
>Let's see how it turns out, but I wouldn't have my hopes up.
Roberts hasn't listened to a single case he didn't make money from his own decision, he never saw a bill that funds corporations on the backs of the taxpayer that he didn't sign, he doesn't belong there, the guy is obviously stupid
who cares about imports you can make that shit here
Scalise is from my state and his bill is dead, while they voted on the federal red flag laws proposed by Graham and then Rubio.
How the fuck did you vote for Trump when he ran on the red flag laws in 2016?
This is the reason I don't vote for him and I won't vote for him in 2020.
Again: under his administration the 2a is under attack. We tripled the number of the red flag states and Scalise's bill is dead in the commitee.
True that.
So yeah, my hopes are less than minimal on this.
>Oh please I want open carry and concealed carry to not require any license period
you really want all niggers to legally be able to carry without any kind of check? If we didn't have them in would love for there to be no permitting. But as long as they are around I want some type of licensing. A federal Shall Issuse would be ideal. They're too lazy and dumb to do that.
>This is the reason I don't vote for him and I won't vote for him in 2020.
>Again: under his administration the 2a is under attack. We tripled the number of the red flag states and Scalise's bill is dead in the commitee.
Do you really think not voting for him makes things any better? All that does is give votes to the dems. If another republican ran against trump I would be all for it. But between him and Biden or Coumo, I would vote trump in a heartbeat. You really think the dems don't want to turn to entire country into NY/CA?
>you really want all niggers to legally be able to carry without any kind of check?
Retard
if everyone can carry that means that there will be someone else ready to shoot the nigger
thats the fucking point cuck we dont need cops or some gay ass permit that wont become available in a crisis like the one we have now
Did you forget that some states closed down their issuing departments?
People in Florida could not carry during the lockdown unless they had the license, if they wanted to get one or replace one they might have lost, they got fucked over by Nikki Fried
so no, licenses are gay and it's my god given right to carry
9th circuit actually favoring online ammo sales in Cali [before in-state shenanigans shortly thereafter] is a great sign, along with this
