it's called a caduceus or staff of hermes.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caduceus

They used poisons to heal, something like inject bleach

>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caduceus
The caduceus is often incorrectly used as a symbol of healthcare organizations and medical practice, particularly in the United States of America, due to confusion with the traditional medical symbol, the Rod of Asclepius, which has only one snake and is never depicted with wings - the logo of the World Health Organization uses the Rod of Asclepius as its basis.

So you can look upon it and heal thy self. From all those damn snake bites.

Also associated with Baal.

Also metaphor for "creative energies" that flow up from waist to top of spine.

Poor education. Then the lack of interest in rebranding.

Oh come the fuck on its a caduceus. It's the symbol of Hermes trismegistus and his thing was alchemy and a messenger of Apollo who is the god of the sun and also medicine.

Walter Friedlander proposed that early association of the caduceus with medicine might have derived from the association of Hermes Trismegistus ("Thrice-Great Hermes") with early chemistry and medicine as aspects of alchemy as an esoteric practice. He notes however, that "although these various factors may link Hermes/Mercury, along with his caduceus, with alchemical medicine, they may just as well link all the other non-medical aspects of alchemy with Hermes/Mercury and the caduceus."

Why do they use it?

It's an old meme

No, he wasn’t.

this guy wrote the wiki article about the symbol

To mockingly steal the valor of Jesus Christ. goodquestionblog.com/2014/01/27/why-does-a-serpent-represent-what-jesus-did-on-the-cross/

Yes was and he had a son who was one as Well.

Because Americans are retarded. The correct symbol to be used in hospitals is the Rod of Asclepius, not the Caduceus Staff

Or maybe Christianity is heavily influenced by Greek and Egyptian mythology

>Trismegistus
>Thrice great
Another common misconception, thanks Wikipedia
It's Trimagistus, three magics. The "Trinity" so used in many many many other teachings. The three wise men, or magi. Male, female, both. Father, son, holy spirit. In, out, without. Positive, negative, neutral.
So many layers of obfuscation.

>Why is this thing which is thousands of years older than this second thing mocking this second thing?
Are you sure about that

Asclepius staff has one snake and the caduceus has two snakes. Those are used as a medical meme

It's the Nehushtan.

Attached: [email protected] (1200x1200, 128.94K)

The nehushtan is older than the caduceus, it was israelite culture that influenced greek culture.

>It's Trimagistus
No, it isn't. Thrice Great is correct. In Latin he is MERCVRIVS TER MAXIMVS.
However, he IS thrice great because he has the three parts of the knowledge of the whole world, which can be seen as the three sciences or three magics or three arts, so the other associations in your post are ok, especially his possible conception as the Tri Magi instead of three separate magi. The association with the trinity is coincidental but everything else isn't. He is a divine messenger (hence, Hermes), and so he is the harbinger of the reason of God (logos). He is not God but is a direct messenger of God.

Much like Enoch... Really makes you wonder.

Even if less old, still the latter fulfilled and completed the former.

Only the rod of Asclepius is supposed to be used in medicine. The OP asked why do hospitals use a symbol and presented the caduceus, so the answer is "because the hospital administrators in your country are uncultured swine".

The nehushtan has only one snake and appears in the Jewish mysticism, and so is much much less ancient than the caduceus which has babylonian roots. If anything, you could argue that the rod of asclepius is related to the nehushtan merely based on the fact they are both rods adorned with a single serpent, despite the fact that they share no symbolism, meaning or even context.

>greek culture.
You're again confusing the caduceus with the rod of asclepius. 100% American Protestant, you are.

I didn't even know that was another name for it. Snakes on sticks have been in Long island for a long time. Kind of like eagles holding things. it just seems like it's everywhere. It seems like we're all connected to a great consciousness somewhere and the ancients were trying to tell us something.

Been around for a long time*

Lol I could go for a long island though.

>It seems like we're all connected to a great consciousness somewhere
Everywhere, actually
>and the ancients were trying to tell us something.
As are the ones in the present, yet most refuse to listen

Represents their snake dna being intertwined with ours. Hybridization of humanity so they can parasite off of us.
