Here in michigan the hospitals are at something like 60% capacity. According to the state's own data 3/4 of the ventilators in my area (GR) are unused and most of the ones in use aren't for coronavirus. I know the Detroit area is hit harder, but this is the #3 state for worst numbers.
We know this cold was going around in the USA for at least a couple months before the shutdowns. It isn't going to be a spanish flu. We're going to suffer more from freaking out about it as a society
