Can you rephrase that

Are you homosexual?

I wouldn't be surprised, raining fire and brimstone would be SUPER 2020.

>4 days in the future at this moment a super volcano is gonna erup

nothing is going to happen, op is a faggot, screenshot this.

keep us posted

>magma tubes bore through soft sediment all the way to Ogallala Aquifer
>steam created evaporates upward, filling topsoil with nitrogen-rich mist
>supervolcano postponed for another 60,000 years
too easy

Currently going to school for Geology. I became interested in it specifically because of magnetism. Any suggestions on what I should study in particular?

I only took minerology this semester because I wanted to make sure that I wanted to go to school. It's cool stuff desu.

No

Magnetism, as in paleomagnetism? That's an incredibly specialized field that really wouldn't have too much work outside of an academic setting. Interested in doing a PhD?

False prophet

Digits confirm

From my brief reading of the super volcano it appears that the eruptions become less "violent" each time (eg less energy expelled, less material ejected, etc). Would you call that a fair assessment? What could humans do now to prevent it from erupting or erupting violently?

>tfw Florida
No ash AND cooler weather?

>interested in doing a phd
I dunno man. I think I should make sure I get a bachelors first. Plus I'm 25, so the prospect of getting out of school when I'm nearing mid thirties doesn't sound that appealing.

I'm planning on accelerating my bachelors to be 2 1/2 to 3 years though. So it is a possibility. I'm guessing that a phd would be a prerequisite to be taken seriously in paleomagetism?

I'm mostly just fascinated by magnets and the fact that it's incredibly difficult to describe why they function. I was thinking I would make use of it to develope some kind of kinetic weapon/body armor. But that's just pie in the sky dreams.

I also am wicked worried about the earths rapidly shifting magnetic poles and want to see what can be done (if anything) to ensure that doesn't cause a cataclysmic event (Adam and Eve Story, Chan Thomas).

This is mostly a degree of passion, but I want to make sure that I can use it practically and will getting a double major in biology as well, along with a minor in chemistry.

How'd you get into Geology?
Any suggestions for a new student?

won't happen because of posts like this

Based on this it sounds like you're more suited for a physics degree than a geology degree.

But again, your interests sound super niche and wouldn't likely be found outside of academia, or maybe some super focused government lab, if such a project existed.

I got into geology because I loved hiking, camping and everything having to do with outdoors. You get to spend a lot of time outside if you wind up in certain areas of geology, such as mineral exploration.

As for what you should do, get as many internships as you can. This isn't necessarily a competitive field, but it's very prone to mass layoffs if the economy turns to shit. Having more experience trumps an advanced degree.

In a nutshell that's correct for the most part.

There is absolutely nothing that humans could do to stop a volcano, of any size, from erupting. At the absolute most we'd be able to evacuate people and halt air travel, but it would be like trying to stop the sun from eventually burning out

Cool. Do you have any reading material that's more academic in nature? Not that I don't trust buzz feed's take on it, but it seems regular media likes to really hype this stuff.

>physics degree
I've considered it. Seems daunting desu.
>hiking, camping and everything outdoors
I get that desu. I thought I might train myself in ice climbing, winter survival, alpine skiing, snow shoeing, etc. because some of the few expeditionary geologists are arctic geologists.

I'm the most active when there's snow on the ground and the thought of going on an adventure to a continent so few have stepped upon is incredibly appealing.

If anything I'll just become a humble soil scientist that can identify what stones get hauled up with the plow.

>layoffs
That's alright man, if anything I want my skills to be marketable for self employment as an affordable and able soil scientist. I would also like to have myself a bit of a farm too.

Been on any excersions?
Do you often travel for work?
Hit any big mineral deposits?

Attached: 1570848990515.jpg (540x540, 79.49K)

Why would you risk sunburn on your head while walking through the desert? Why not wear your pants on your head?

>been on any excursions
Not as of yet. I work with diamond deposits, so I do end up in the canadian arctic, however we're super limited with regards to the times we can be up there. Usually it's just a few months in the summer when there's no snow on the ground
>how often do you travel for work
Once every 2-4 weeks in the summer. If I'm doing exploration, It'll be 2 weeks straight up north, then 2 weeks straight back home. Rinse and repeat. I don't do that too much anymore, but sometimes I'm required to go to the mine in the summer. Maybe a few days per months. It's fly-in, fly-out type of work
>hit any big mineral deposits
Can't really talk about that sadly (NDA), but diamond projects are starting to slow down here in leaf land. The market certainly isn't helping

Not off the top of my head. I don't study volcanoes. Download some volcanology textbooks from libgen and have a look. They'll have a lot of jargon but it's nothing too bad i don't think

Sounds comfy. How much do you earn yearly?

>Nothing humans can do to stop a volcano
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
You fucking retard.
You just dig a lava canal to relieve pressure, or drop a heat resistant nuke in it and set it off early.

Technically possible, and you may be watching what I am. I think that level energy build up is still a few months away. No promises.

This is physics material science, with a minor or under grad in geology.

The End has to begin sometime.

nope. no volcano, no meteor, no mass arrests. just infinity niggers.

But are you living now?
