You need to compare CFR to CFR, and you'll see that COVID-19 is 25-40 times as deadly as the flu, even using the most forgiving numbers. And it's more infectious.

Then you're comparing estimates to estimates. IFR is inferred, in the case of COVID-19, from antibody tests in random sampling. It's really hard to reduce confounding noise. CFR is known cases. Apples to apples.
