when New England gets independence, what should the capital be?
I think it should be either Hartford or Albany. Both have metro areas over 1m population, have infrastructure to support a capital city and growth, and are relatively in the middle of the country.
one can only hope that this becomes a meme some point during our timeline.

Greater NYC in New England?
Jackson Bell
>NYC >NJ Not a single fucking thing to do with New England. Fuck right off with your shitty low-effort thread.
Levi Kelly
>Energy Sources: Natural Gas A lot of Farts in New England I hear
Logan Sullivan
North NJ and the NY counties north of NYC are essentially Connecticut. Long Island is like a denser Connecticut/Rhode Island. NYC itself is a bit of a black sheep, but all sides would agree its a logical marriage that'll work out best for everybody.
Were not New England. New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are mid Atlantic. Also stop larping US balkanization, it's not happening. t. New Yorker

just don't let the door hit you northeast faggots on your way out the door. would be SO glad to life in an America free of you (and the California scum too.)

autumn falls the winds blow the leaf is swept away the evergreen remains
behold, i am the evergreen
Henry Hill
We're not staying with that troglodyte fucking city and we're not even in New England. Count us out fag.
Luis Johnson
I can imagine New England trash trying to create a state kek, a bunch of 5 foot 8 fat bald manlets walking around in cargo shorts and patriots hoodies claiming their Irish heritage as an excuse to get drunk and be rowdy. What a worthless bunch of states.
Thomas Gutierrez
>including New York so you can boost your GDP number
Isaiah Bennett
cool. you wanna work out a reimbursement plan, or just pay up front?
its funny how the most liberal area of the country is also the best
Chase Thomas
get rid of new york city
Grayson Cruz
i don't understand what everybody's problem with including NYC is. not only does it make sense, but independent New England would be a flimsy concept without it.
Dominic Barnes
sure, I will be happy to pay you, in copper-jacketed lead, supersonic airmail no extra charge.
its full of the worst kind of jew and the worst kinds of niggers, either get rid of the population of the city or just exclude the struggle for self sufficiency of a nation would be preferable to just extending the struggle of dealing with niggers and shekel sniffers that has caused us to want to regroup and form our own nation yet again
Leo Sanders
but on the point of the thread. what should the capital be?
there aren't even that many black people in the NYC metro. it's not particularly higher than the national average. and the jew percentage. of nyc metro is only slightly higher than that of southern New England.
on the flip side, white new yorkers (and even more so black new yorkers) are openly anti-semitic as shit. like there is genuine animosity towards jews and open hatred and discrimination against the especially religious jews who flaunt their jewyness down here. you want to keep the jews in check? you're gonna wanna have a stock of discontent black rent-payers.
Because We're not New England and diametrically opposed to New England, simple as that. If we smash America into bits it would be like saying Ohio and Michigan should form a union.
Luke Long
that's just stupid. how are New England and NY diametrically opposed? They're so similar in nearly every facet. And Ohio and Michigan are two of the most similar states in the nation to each other culturally, economically, historically, politically etc... The only thing dividing them is a sports rivalry.
Adam Kelly
Realistically speaking, I'd say Boston. You want a waterfront capital since if the country balkanized, you are going to have to establish relations with nations friendly to your cause, and this is easier from an ocean bordering city. Plus having your capital on the coast makes it a trading nexus, which helps boost the local economy and allows more direct oversight of economic activity (which makes Shlomo's efforts at graft more difficult.) For the same reason, making it a cultural center makes oversight of malign social influences easier. Take Tokyo in Japan, one of the few countries in the world that has its largrst governing, economic and cultural centers all in one city. Fairly conservative culture is made when you can keep everything under one thumb rather than spread out.
Cooper Smith
thank you for the legit reply. i agree that Boston is a good choice. i just worry that it would exacerbate the riff between the big cities (boston and nyc) and the rest of the country to put the capital in one of them. also, i think it'd be a waste of an opportunity to revitalize a city like hartford with a govt economy. also, can you elaborate on the waterfront point? 100 years ago that would have made sense, but why does it matter that the plane ride between nations is 20 mins longer?
Nathan Adams
>you're gonna wanna have a stock of discontent black rent-payers.
fuck off jew
Nicholas Thompson
Part of the reason to have a waterfront capital diplomatically speaking is because it projects the image of strength. If you have a oceanside defense strong enough to not pull your capital inland, it shows you can defend your sovereignty and thus can be depended upon to manage your national affairs. Notice that strong countries put their capital on or near the coast, whereas many militarily weaker nations have them inland. Part of good diplomacy is sending out visual warnings, like a dart frog does with its colors. This says "We're not weak, don't fuck with us, but we'll also make strong allies for a good friend." You make a point about Hartford being revitalized though.
Samuel Scott
I don't think that makes sense. Capital cities are there where they are because they usually ended up being the most important city in a country, and usually that city was a trading, port city on the coast. And still, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Ottawa...all of those are deep inland. Even London and Rome are on the sea. They're on rivers kinda near the sea.
Zachary Gonzalez
Is there any reason for independence from the US other than meme? I'm curious.
Hunter James
*are NOT on the sea
Alexander Cruz
>NY >NJ
GTFO with that shit. They are not New England.
The capital should be Bangor, Maine.
James Morales
Good point. Still, I think there's merit for an oceanside capital. Another reason is if the other states try to invade, it means the capital is farther away in physical terms.
Gabriel Turner
Oh that’s just fucking great; another leaf nation to cuck up the threads

they are irreligious now

Yes, very much so. New England is much more similar to a conservative European country at this point than to the rest of America. If New England was its own thing, we'd have >the best healthcare in the world >the best education in the world hands down >our tax dollars staying here instead of subsidizing other states >actual decent infrastructure and infrastructure maintenance which is needed in cold climates >investment in modern transportation systems like high speed rail and increased ferry services >control over opioid policy and be able to address the opioid crisis we have the boomer hick Republicans and third-way Democrats hold us back in unbelievable ways
Alexander Richardson
Come take a quick glance at the South West there amigo and your tune will change quick and fast.
Kevin Turner
They moved to warmer states, stopped breeding, interbred, or became athiests. New England and NYC metro has been dominated by Irish and Italians (with heavy Polish and Portuguese influence too) for decades. Hispanics are starting too boom up here too. Northern Maine is the last part of this proposed country that would have a dominant Protestant population.
Parker Lewis
>How are New England and NY diametrically opposed?
New Yorkers, New Jerseyites: >Are more individualist >prefer a more libertarian world view (We don't care about social causes as much as you guys do we just care if you produce) >are more blunt and direct >Would be solid republican states if we kicked out transplants and niggers >and ultimately let people do their own thing whether they are conservative or liberal with it's values based on a mix of founding Dutch trader values
New Englanders: >Are much more communal >have a more progressive worldview (Like old England, you guys seem to have bad habit of snooping on your neighbors, telling them what to do and having a strict social contract and less capitalism) >not as direct and more vague >Is whitest part of the country, still solid democrat excluding New Hampshire and maybe Maine >Ultimately has a culture strongly rooted in puritan values
You guys aren't bad people and balkanization of America into smaller nations is stupid but if it did happen we would go our own way and Join up with Pennsylvania instead.
