Taiwan will admit defeat and be fully reincorporated into the PRC within our lifetime. The only debate withing the CCP is whether that should be military reunification or peaceful reunification.
Right now, the CCP has instituted a deliberate policy of brain drain to attract all of Taiwan's best and brightest to come and get wealthy in the mainland. It's working and Taiwan hasn't figured out a counter.
Taiwan and the mainland are both corrupt. Taipei is no bastion of freedom and democracy and they're restrained from making a formal declaration of independence. Chen Shui-bian tried and got his finances leaked and his corruption exposed by the US. Taiwan's current president is from the same party.
Also, despite 70% of Taiwanese being against gay marriage, their court legalized it. This is what siding with western democracy gets you: man-on-man anal sex, degeneracy, and tattoos. But I guess they can post Winnie the Pooh memes?
