Currently reading Ron Chernow's Washington biography, quite interesting. He had to contend with fake news and epidemics. Philly was abandoned for a couple of months, and Congress considered meeting in a field during a yellow fever outbreak.

Been reading pic related. It gets a bit repetitive at times, but it's got some great imagery and the many deaths on the battlefield are described in full bloody detail. The central themes of honour and fate are inspiring, and there are lessons to be learnt to this day. Would recommend desu.

Getting real tired of these virtue signaling "stoicism is so based bro have you read meditations" faggots all over the place. You didn't read it "lately", you probably haven't read it ever, but you think you'll get lots of upvotes and karma for namedropping a book you think Yas Forums will approve of. I've seen a lot of threads of people talking about Aurelius and claiming to have read Meditations but I can't recall ever seeing even a single person mention Seneca or Epictetus which makes me suspect that you either didn't read it, didn't understand it, or didn't find it useful but still want to talk having read it about it on Yas Forums so you can bask in the approval of other people in the same boat.

I swear these threads are like 50% people pretending to have read Nietzsche, Evola, or Aurelius with a scattering of "They made me read this in high school but it's supposed to be a 'good' book so I guess I'll mention it" guys with 1984 and Brave New World. It's thread like these that make you realize just how far this board has fallen intellectually.
