What is something, you don’t normally tell people, that your family is known for?

My family is (((cursed))). Specially my mother's side but my father was a dumb commie who got Stasi'ed while young.

My great grand-uncle is Martin Bormann, secretary to Adolf Hitler.

What is the curse? Or can’t you tell people?

my family was one of the largest slave owners and we have detailed records of purchased slaves, what their African names were, what we named them, who they were bred with, their kids names, etc. More importantly, the names of the owners of the slave ships. Guess who they were?

My grandfather from my father traced his lineage back to 1800 something
a frenchie from marseille met a girl from piamonte (italy) and they came to argentina
my closest european lineage came from spain, my grandmother's mother came in the 1900 wave with her family

My grandfather was a hells angel and murdered people. One that I’m aware of was an undercover cop.

Crazy thing was I just knew him as Pappy. When you are a little kid you don’t understand who someone is until you get older. When I was in high school it started to click more and I was shocked.

Sad part, I remember the day that he knew that I knew and the look on his face crushed him. I didn’t care he was still my grandpa, but I think he was living vicariously thru my innocence and when I realized who he was and what he had done, it seemed to be like his life was over.

He died of alcoholism 6 years ago

honestly i have no idea where to go to get my lineage traced
the only other thing i know is that one of my ancestors was brought over from england to the 13 colonies to fight in the revolution because he was a sharpshooter, dont know what side he fought for though

If we gave them to academics they'd just be destroyed. ehhh, no, I am just generally interested because I know I’m not the only one with interesting family history and I don’t have the heart to get into mutliple serous relationships with people solely for learning more about history

This kind of shit makes me question it too. Did the US look into because they know the USSR had used it previously? If so, how come they never disclosed it? It really bothers me because nobody in my family died from war or famine or violence. Only typhus killed people in my family.
