The average zoomer doesn't even have the mental capacity to power through a 200-page book these days. I look at videos from the past and I see normal people. People who are happy. People excited to be alive and for their future. On top of that, most modern zoomers are out of shape fat slobs. There are still in-shape zoomers who play sports but they're the minority. Yeah, social development for your generation is wrecked by screens. At least half of millennials got a few critical early years interacting with people. Everything just got worse and worse after 1998. You can still have a nice life but you have to get out of the city and learn how to logoff. Decide what you want to do first then use your phone if it's helpful. Older people used calculators, telephones, books, typewriters, phone books, TVs, etc. A phone is handy because it puts all of those things into one little package and it does them better. The difference is that older people did not stare at their calculator waiting for notifications. Just learn to use technology rather than allow it to nudge you into doing what the dipshits in silicon valley or wherever want you to do.
I agree, the internet is a terrible thing, but it's hard to quit. I suggest people force themselves to commit to 1 or 2 days without using it and see how they feel. I felt great and slept like I did when I was a kid. But it's just hard to quit it long term. I think the hardest part is you feel like you're not connected to society and you're missing out on important things without it. In reality you aren't though.
