I remember having read somewhere that decades after the war in Ethiopia, Italian soldiers went back for some reason (probably to help with something down there) and there was this old Ethiopian man who - as soon as he saw the soldiers and the Italian flag - wore his old and torn military “suit” and took his old rusted to shit carbine and immediately saluted the soldiers with the Roman salute cheering VIVA IL DUCE, VIVA L’ITALIA.
The guys were speechless and told him it wasn’t necessary but the old man was faithful to his Duce and kept doing that and the militaries allowed him to help them at their camp with minor symbolic things, because the man wanted to do everything he could for them.
Also the same happened in Libya.
