Today is an important day in Italy, if not THE most important in the italian calendar
>25th April, also know as Anniversary of the Resistance, is the national Italian holiday commemorating the end of Nazi occupation during World War II and the victory of the Resistance in Italy >Every 25th April, the entire country celebrate the liberation from nazi-fascist tyranny (aside right wingers, that hate this day) >Everyone proudly bring the repubblican democratic flag, and the descendants of the partizans heroes, mostly communists, who liberate the country march across the cities, wearing their grandfathers clothes and insignas >The jewish partizan brigade in particular always have a special role in the parades >Now it's the symbolic day in which Italy also celebrate democracy, liberty and equal rights for everyone: the motivations behind the anti-fascist resistance of 1943-1945 >The day is considered the greatest festivity in Italy, and by many as the actuall start date for the modern nation of Italy: the unification day (17th March) is rarely celebrated since 1945 for it's nationalist implications, let alone another big pre-WW2 festivity, the victory over Austria-Hungary on the 4th November, for the same reasons.

Here a pic of the jewish partizan brigade, always the first in any 25th Aprile parade, in honor of the key role of the jewish italian community in fighting the fascism barbarianism
Only a small ammount of antifascists every years oppose the partecipation of the jewish brigade in the parade, clamining Israel is doing to Palestinians exactly what nazis did to them. But it's just a small minority of closet fascists, as Israle is an anti-fascist country
Right wings figure, mostly closet fascists, also frequently receive death threats from the descendants of the partizians, antifascists movements in particular
"Beware Salvini, the wind of liberty is stil lthere: now and always resistance"
How you doing, fellow resistors? Hitler man bad amirite?

Nope, it's a Victory day for those who celebrate it, as they think the true democratic Italy, freed itself from the fake, tyrannical fake Italy. For this reason many anti-fascists recognized Italy as a proper country only after the 25th Aprile 1945 Even before Mussolini after all "Italy" was just a personal propierty of the autoritarian Savoy house, dedicate in genocide of the native africans, colonialism, and lack of equal rights for women, who could only have right to vote in 1946
Matthew Howard
most 25th April celebrators also think Hungary is the closest European country similar to Nazi Germany, and that should be kicked from the Union as long as you dont accept democracy. They really, really hate you and Orban

Bella Ciao, the song that was postumously considered the symbol of the entire italian resistance, is still today the most famous italian song in the world >Some even think it should replace the actuall anthem of Italy, that sound too much nationalistic >Bonus point: some recent studies have hinted the origin of the song to an ancient song of the italian jewish folkore, confirming once more the deep root between democracy and jewish people
Ehy i just dumped various photos to help foreigners undestand what the day is all about in Italy, also to promoto replys and thus bumps

Those who march with the jewish brigade claim it. The anti-fascists who oppose Israel and support Palestine claims the contrary

Anything that commemorates killing Germans is a good thing; in saying that fuck communists

tldr fascist Italy gets BTFO by america and commies come out of the woodwork and go on a chimpout spree. Now each year we are supposed to religiously hail them as heroes
To being honest: yes. But they needed to promote some native heroes to feel it more like a liberation than an occupation from Germany to America. Ever country need it's own pantheon of ideal national heroes
