Why are store shelves still empty?

Why are store shelves still empty?
It's been almost two months since the panic buying began. Why can't stores keep their shelves stocked? Are people still buying more than normal or is the problem farther up the supply chain? Are there genuine shortages? Why hasn't production of things like bleach and lysol ramped up to meet increased demand?

There's a delay between supply and stocking. May will have shortages because of supply chain issues for food producers.

The mass shopping hasn't stopped. People are cooped up at home and just want to eat all day

Some stores have already run out of bags.

because United States is unironically a shithole country

The toilet paper thing is just weird. At first it's understandable because everyone's buying it, but the supply of toilet paper is the same as its always been, and there aren't more people shitting. There can't be that many people shitting in public bathrooms and work bathrooms normally, can there?

The only explanation I can think of is that people are still panic buying and hording as much as possible. And eating more since they're all inside, and even working from home you're still eating more snacks.

Less people buying fast food and going out means more groceries too, and a lot of people are just eating sandwiches because apparently that's survival food to them, but it's also just really easy during a time when you have no idea when things will reopen.

Other than that, I have no clue.

Why bags?

Unless supply chains have actually collapsed and we just aren't being told, then there shouldn't be shortages of everything.

what is weirdest to me is paper plates being completely out of stock at every store.

It's a disaster that is hitting everything at different times. Production in China is still in the shitter, you'd be surprised what is broken in the supply chain and preventing things from getting to the shelves. Bullshit like missing packaging boxes, or a needed chemical to process something, a missing dye for a lable. On top of that, processing facilities are getting hit with COVID infections running through staff, employees too scared to work, shut down issues, fuck, everything is getting fucked. Big fuck up is that most food was geared to restaurants. So that massive supply chain is impossible to adapt to the regular consumer. So all that demand is squarely on the grocery store, with people still stocking up.
It's getting dangerous. Massive reallocations need to be done, NOW.

People hate doing dishes.

They're made in China.

Mixture of artificial shortage and over-buying. Their literally running commericals telling people not to over-buy shit but in reality it's because we live in a corporate controlled society who will not let this opportunity to price gouge their distributors get away from them, to you a $0.01 price increase is not alot but to a store it is so Charmin toilet paper goes well we are raising our TP up $0.25 a unit wholesale and Target is like well fuck that dude thats insane we will just limit our options and Walmarts like well ill pay for all you have left cause their gonna sell like hotcakes and I dont care about paying a premiumn cause I can pass it onto the consumer and then you have the shit show you see in stores, same things with ventilators to be honest.

Hell the whole reason there is a shutdown is to keep the medical industry making profit during this crisis, and all for a $1,200 bribe Americans are going to shut the fuck up, suck some corporate cock, and thank them for profiting off a crisis while permnating ruining an encomny only they got bailed out from because they didnt wanna lose $0.05 a unit making masks quicker then they can profitabliy.

Most tp used wasn't used at home. A majority of American ass wipes during weekdays was at work or away from home. Here in Central Texas our main grocery stores, HEB's figured it out and got commercial suppliers to repackage for the home market. The Charmin is still gone, but that commercial rebranded stuff is plentiful.
I have a shower massager and just jet wash my ass. I'm not going back to fucking tp. It's fucking stupid unless you're in a field situation.

Used to work retail here as a stocker. I can pretty much assure you it’s because every store in America has ran out of specific products and the workers have placed huge orders damn near all across the country and it’s hard keep up even before the fucking virus. Now I bet those grocery stores are hiring the dumb fucks spamming them with apps while the managers hide in the back with masks and gloves lol. Eventually they will get stocked but the amount of grocery stores demanding certain products (toilet paper, avacodoes, ramen noodles ect..) is too much for the fuckin suppliers. Peasants will starve.

Mom stopped buying food.

Last time she went shopping was 2 weeks ago.
I don't get it bros I'm hungry.
She bought a shit load of frozen meat and that's it.

Why don't you go shopping for her?

If this is in the city, there is your answer.
Otherwise. They're stocked.

i think some people realize that this is going to get way worse and its not going to get better anytime soon

I live in rural Ireland. No shops in sight.
Have no car, no job, no money, online software student that probably won't get a job.

Meat is hard to come by these days. Your mom sounds like a sweetheart too bad she has to deal with an ungrateful cuck of a son like you. Do the world a favor and lick a toilet seat

stores are full over here

So do I, that’s why I eat straight out of the pan.

same

Don't wear masks in public (unless you're in a high-risk hellhole).
Smirk at people wearing masks.
Shame them into feeling stupid.
Sooner they feel stupid, the sooner the economy pick back up and public leaders will cave to pressure.
Unless you're "accelerationist," then do whatever you want.

At least you’re getting meat. My mom is obsessed with fruits and vegetables and I have to spend my own money on beef and fish.

Went to Walmart today fully stocked, even had my favorite chips

>rural Ireland
Please I will cook and clean for you I will fucking pay you just let me live in your basement

What about lysol? Isopropyl alcohol? Bleach?

The Americans wanted socialism and now they have it. They must be so happy.

Didn’t check, non essential to me. I did see random people with different variety of toilet packs like 12rolls and 30ish rolls

just move to a normal country, buddy

There was a queue at Bunnings (the hardware store) today. They say it is due to coronavirus but we here know that coronavirus is a nothingburger.

So it is literally socialism. If it was capitalisim then there would be no shortage because stores would increase their prices and consumers would pay more and hence buy less but producers would receive more and hence increase production.

Also captcha is completely broken for me so from this we can infer that the cancer is widespread.

Where in the fuck are you guys located that have stores without stock? Most stores in west coast are fully stocked now when it comes to food, snacks etc
For whatver reason the only thing not in supply is alcohol and cleaning wipes. bleach and hygiene products are available. Caught some fucking beaner with a cart full of sanitizer and asked to take some from him. You have to go early morning for those supplies as told by two different store managers

well sucks to be you. sounds like mom will not be back next time she leaves the house

but she left you some frozen meat

The shelves for liquid soap at my nearby large S-Market have been empty every single time but one I've been there over the past five or six weeks. The one time there were a few bottles available was maybe about three weeks ago Yesterday they had a few bars of soap, some bottles of shower gel, but no liquid soap of any kind. Either liquid soap gets regularly hoarded or there's a supply issue.

It's just capitalism being the most efficient allocator of resources duh

moon landings real btw
