If America had thrown it's full military might at them, doing things like firebombing cities and shelling from ships they probably would've given up. Our tanks also were not effective in Vietnam's terrain. I don't think that war was about winning anyway. The war, from the start, had no true objective. The Korean War was won not by america, but by the South Koreans rejecting communism.

Interesting enough if you look into the details the American soldiers won every open engagement they fought with the NV's. It was later on that they switched to gorilla tactics and the initial successes by the US troops was so effective the top brass refused to change battle strategies and adapt. Then it became so unpopular that the US pulled out amidst violent protests against the war.
They won every battle but still lost the war, it's some weird shit when you look into it.

Meanwhile the NVA were.... Dying a lot. And that's it.

So the NVA surrender in Paris in 1972, agreeing to the following conditions if America pulls it's girthy cock out of their tortured asshole:
