Commie blocks are rat warrens of danger, hiding places for people to mug you. They're a lot like the former tenement buildings anow now Section 8 housing towers of NY. They're especially similar in the way that the electricity in the stairwells always seems to be out, and you have no idea who could be lurking there and there's a dripping moldy leak everyone is aware of, but no one has the agency to fix.
