idk but a lot of simple sentances in dutch and english can survive literal translation of every individual word in the sentance so I'd say their language is pretty close to ours

Just about all words considered to be foul are of either anglo saxon or ON origin, they also ofc overlap a lot these two groups. That's why it's considered offensive to say ass/arse insided of rectum or piss instead of urinate.
those cases are latin but the same applies to french, others are of ON and ON/anglo origin.

When you see esp modern norway the same rules applies her, was never invaded but through unions came a bunch of foreign nobles. Dialect words that remains from the old language are foul while these imported words are considered nice. Means exactly the same
