I personally have once I was forced to share a bag of chips with my cousin those were terrible times

No, and you should be wary of anyone claiming to have been from the USSR, or have families from there or any other communist country.

But IRL, sadly, it seems like communism wasn't that much worse than our current system. We're just sort of blinded to a lot of the shittiness of our own society because we're so used to it and biased

interesting, tell me more

My grandpa did and he still loves Tito.

Idk if hes mentally retarded or something.

My mother told me that one time she was forced by the police to vote some politician.

Everybody survives communism because communism is for everybody. So your question is null and void.

My grandparents survived fascism though. They survived The Holocaust. It was nothing like what Yas Forums forces itself to believe. It was terrifying. It was the stuff of nightmares. It was an incredibly dark and frightening period in human history. What the Nazis were capable of is unthinkable not only by today's standards, but even by ancient barbarians that were more acquainted with extreme violence and other forms of depravity.

My grandmother and grandfather met in Berlin before it all started. She was a seamstress and my grandfather was a shopkeep. They happened upon each other one day during the lunch hours and chatted in the sun for a moment. My grandfather gave her a bite of his sandwich and she graciously accepted.

They were married just six months later and had six children within the next six years. This was when the Nazis came to power. Their home was swept and every possession confiscated. The Nazis stole their children and sent each off to a different concentration camp. My grandfather and grandmother were both sent to Dachau.

They did everything they could to get news of their children, to find out how they were doing. Over the years the news did trickle in. Their eldest had been forced to climb a tree every day by Nazi guards and the would shoot at the branches, trying to make him fall. They succeeded and when he fell he died and was turned to ashes. This was Ebensee. Margo, their second oldest, was forced to serve meals but not allowed any food herself. She starved just two months into her ordeal at Belzec. The other four children were summarily executed along with the other six million Nazi victims.

My grandparents survived but all their children were lost. This is the horror Yas Forums likes to celebrate.

Well for example even to this day in Russia, they grow like 40% of their own food in gardens and shit. And that's in a colder climate, too, than what we have in the USA (I'm talking about the USA in my post, not Romania).

If you compare that to the USA we're all hopelessly hooked on consumerism, which makes us all slaves. Slaves are helpless people. The school systems in the USA make children helpless. We're all trained to become corporate zombies. Most people don't even know how to garden or do anything self-sufficiently because the profit incentive with capitalism makes it more profitable for business if people are clueless and helpless (because then they must consume to survive).

We also have private prisons in the USA, which are basically just capitalist gulags.

Everything is illegal here. You don't really "own" your own property under this system anyway. Wanna get a rural home and be left alone? You can't because of property taxes, which will run you thousands of dollars a year even for a cheap home. Oh, and you can't build what you want either, it needs to conform to a million different codes. Basically, the govt owns it but it gives you a piece of paper saying you own it and that it's "private property".

Plus we've got the CIA here in the USA and all of that stuff. They've done horrible things, including kidnap children to drug them up for MKULTRA. They protect pedo rings. They peddle drugs. Lots of other things too, I don't have the room to discuss them all here.

Plus all of our wars for profit.

We have guantanimo bay where people have been held for 20 yrs still no trial.

Our courts are a joke. Our police murder people in the streets, sometimes in cold blood and on camera, and still face no consequences. They can plant drugs on you any time they want and you will go to prison, you have no defense. It's all based on their whim. "Their word against yours" and their word always wins. Evidence is not needed because you have no rights here.

>there is no suffering but mine!
Fuck off.

It was hard to actually buy food, so most people just grew small farms, to try and get by, a.k.a. empty stores or massive lines.

Community work, like working the fields was usually done by a large number of people, who voluntarily worked in "companies" for a couple of days during summer or later, picking potatoes or other veggies and then getting a couple of sacks of tates.

People generally drank more alcohol, were somewhat braindead. Gopniks and all the degenerate cultures infested the streets.

Widespread corruption, even among small bussiness owners, because it was impossible to live without it.

Mandatory millitary service, which forced people to go through gruesome conditions - limb damage by frost, low or no medical care (toothache? pour some acid on that baby), poor equipment in terms that it didn't really protect you from cold/wind/heat/wetness etc.

While the people were strengthened phisycally, they were usually left completely retarded in terms of brain capacity.

All i can remember from some stories, cool times.

No one cares about the holocaust, because it's extremely diluted and if you really want to know how gruesome it was, just search up some pictures.
Btw, there was no 6 gorillion, just a bunch of Eastern European peasants. Mixed bag.

My parents hate it with burning passion, garnd parents swear by it

Too bad they didn't get them all because now we have to put up with your faggotry

my dad hates that the unproductive factories manufacturing outdated, sub-par shit went bankrupt or were sold for peanuts and people unproductive jobs

Before class started one student had to stand on the "cathedre" and say "Za domovino!" (For the homeland) while the rest responded "S Titom naprej! (Onward with Tito).

Family is deep rooted in Ukraine.
Holodomor

Is this on par with pledging allegiance to the flag? Any americans in here with kids/siblings/nieces/nephews presently in public school? Do they still pledge allegiance every morning?

Did the commies kill your family with masturbation machines?

>Has any of your family members have survived communism
Uh, I have survived communism, though was pretty tame in the latter years. Grandfather's family getting deported so Siberia for being too intellectual was pretty sucky I guess, some of them survived though.
As an indirect consequence I now have relatives in the US. They are all about the Jeebus, not so interesting to talk to them.

yeah, most did. Very positive!

My father lived in Yugoslavia for his entire life. Worked for 50 years, didnt earn anything

Hard to imagine living in Siberia for 70yrs, isolated for so long you were unaware WW2 had occurred as late as the 1960s, been reading from a hand written bible from the 1500s and are of the belief that it is the year 4057 because you used an old-timey calendar or some shit.

I was born in USSR in 1981, AMA

There were masturbation machines and a pen with an eagle. Pretty scary desu

Is your penis circumcised?

>Communism
>small bussiness owners
Pick one
Also gopnicks appeared in 90s after USSR fall.

No, and I didn't cut my son as well

In the US we were told the Russian Mafia ran free and unchecked after the fall of the USSR, any stories about that?
Do you know anything about random nuclear war heads falling through the cracks into black markets, the whereabouts of which are unknown to this day?

Why you still not deported then?

currently suffering under its yoke, it's the worst, peak clown world

Watching just 10 minutes of South African Parliament is absolutely fucking mind blowing. I don't even know what to say.

FIL had to hide under floor and didn’t leave the family property for years. Took 15 years for tensions to cool enough for him to get out and apply for a green card. His wife and kids were already safe overseas those 15 years waiting.

the ride never ends, just when you think it can't get worse, it does

Yes
According to them, we should hang Communists in public

Every single person i've ever met who was "liberated" from communism begs that they had it back and agree that life what much better under communism. Talk to anyone in an ex soviet country and they will tell you this.

i'm a millenial and they had quit that shit by the time I was in school so I guarantee they don't do it anymore. Good I say burn the fucking flag

This.
My parents were.
Relatives too.
Good thing is they are immune and vote hard right.

It was very depressing time after the USSR fall. I was 10 when it happened, needless to say my childhood was not happy. My jewish father was a very professional turner (hope I translated the profession right) and there were times when no salary was paid for 9 months. Of cource there was a lot of crime and drugs around. I was not involved with any of these, I was 10 and my family just tried not to starve. About nuclear warheads I'm sure as hell there are some fallen through the cracks. People would sell their whole country for a dime those times.
