Is Yas Forums slipping that badly that you've all forgotten about all the Far-UVC stuff from early February? it was all over the place on /cvg/ and other threads.
>Far-UVC light: A new tool to control the spread of airborne-mediated microbial diseases >far-UVC light (207–222nm) cannot penetrate even the outer (non living) layers of human skin or eye; however, because bacteria and viruses are of micrometer or smaller dimensions, far-UVC can penetrate and inactivate them. >We show....a very low dose of 2mJ/cm2 of 222-nm light inactivating >95% of aerosolized H1N1 influenza virus. >Continuous very low dose-rate far-UVC light in indoor public locations is a promising, safe and inexpensive tool to reduce the spread of airborne-mediated microbial diseases. archive.is/H3N9N
It's produced by a fairly simple excimer lamp, similiar to a gas-discharge lamp. The usual gas is KrCl, which emits 222nm, >Krypton light can autonomously and continuously disinfect any known virus, bacteria or fungi in occupied spaces faruv.com/
More from Columbia university. Contains links to additional papers: columbia.edu/~djb3/Far UVC.html >222 nm light is safe for us because it cannot even penetrate through the dead-cell layer on the surface of our skin or the tear layer on the surface of our eyes - but because bacteria and viruses are physically very small, 222 nm light does have enough penetration to efficiently kill them.
I'm frankly shocked that these lamps aren't already all over the place, in every public building and shopping centre. It's not like it's some fancy proprietary technology, it's simple to make in bulk. Excimer lamps in different frequencies are used all the time for curing fibreglass resin, for example.
Nobody cares about the UVC part. People are freaking out over Trump saying it would be an interesting study to inject people with bleach.
Ryan Diaz
Holy shit trumptards are delusional, why the fuck you don't follow your master and inject bleach you fucking retard hahahah
Hunter Cruz
It's ment to be used on objects user. It doesn't magicly avoid your skin cells when killing stuff
Robert Rodriguez
The way uvc light kills viruses is the same way it gives you cancer. Imagine a world where people want to die and call it utopia.
Kayden Jackson
Have you ever gotten sunburned? Imagine that times 6 million. UVC can even give niggers sunburn
David Smith
Fucking read. To reiterate: > it cannot even penetrate through the dead-cell layer on the surface of our skin or the tear layer on the surface of our eyes - but because bacteria and viruses are physically very small, 222 nm light does have enough penetration to efficiently kill them. It is harmless to the skin and eyes.
The reason people are freaking out is not UVC, so don't act like people are freaked out about it.
Juan Cooper
More details at the following paper: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28225654 >We found that 222-nm light kills MRSA efficiently but, unlike conventional germicidal UV lamps (254 nm), it produces almost no premutagenic UV-associated DNA lesions in a 3D human skin model and it is not cytotoxic to exposed mammalian skin. >As predicted by biophysical considerations and in agreement with our previous findings, far-UVC light in the range of 200-222 nm kills bacteria efficiently regardless of their drug-resistant proficiency, but without the skin damaging effects associated with conventional germicidal UV exposure. Oh that's right, you are too afraid to do your own research like an actual scientist. You only tag along behind politically appointees who anoint themselves as "experts".
Joseph Cook
>Trump saying I'm talking about Far-UVC, not Trump. This was a basic piece of the puzzle in the early days, and now literally everyone seems to have forgotten about it.
CHING CHONG DING DONG THIS IS CCP 5 YUAN HAVE BEEN DEPOSITED TO OUR ACCOUNT
Jaxon Bennett
Stop looking at old tech. That chart is from a site that sells 254nm mercury vapour lamps. 254 is conventional UVC. It is reasonably effective, but damaging to skin. It's also much cheaper than what I'm talking about. I want to talk about Far-UVC because everyone apparently has forgotten about it. In all the usual Trump threads, there isn't a single mention from any poster about 222nm, from either MIGAtards or Jew globohomo shills. When only 2 months ago 222nm was common knowledge. What the fuck happened?
Levi Phillips
>diaspora Pajeet still hard on damagecontroll about orange retard mumbling retarded shit
Christopher Sullivan
Inorite? What next fighting cancer with radiation? People need to learn science.
Nathaniel Bell
222nm is weakly germicidal. Walking under one for a few minutes isn't going to do shit.
Yes, maybe hanging them everywhere will be good, however, there is a big problem: people are idiots. Suppose just 1/10 people is a fucking retard and buys 254nm germicidal lamps, which are very widely available. Well, now everyone going into the grocery store is breathing toxic gas and going blind from welders eye.
Juan Perry
soviets treated blood with that shit for ages.
Jaxson Jackson
>Heat, ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, octanoic acid, and solvent/detergent (S/D) methods were tested individually for their ability to inactivate SARS-CoV in protein solutions appropriately mimicking blood-derived products. Treated samples were tested for inactivation in a tissue culture growth assay. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/j.1537-2995.2006.00976.x
They were investigating UVB/UVC back when SARS was a thing.
I had excimer as a kid. Big pink splotches up and down my arms. Never again no thank you.
Christian Bennett
>222nm is weakly germicidal. Evidence for this? According ot the paper I linked most in , it's almost as efficient as 254nm >however, there is a big problem: people are idiots Ah, so you're part of the "masks don't work crowd" - don't give people information because they're too stupid to be allowed to use it.
>254vs222nm Yeah, it's mostly as efficient, same ballpark, but the energy levels they are pumping out aren't effective for disinfecting surfaces. My point was just that you can't simply hold your hand under these lights at a reasonable energy level and expect them to be clean like washing them. Room disinfection with 254nm is usually 30-90 minutes at energy levels that can cause permanent eye damage in seconds.
>so you're part of the "masks don't work crowd" Nobody wears a mask so wrong that it blinds and poisons everyone else in the room.
Ethan Ortiz
continued from I mean seriously radiation treats cancer but I don't want to tell minimum wage workers that they should build a nuclear pile in their garage and hope they just don't fuck it up.
If this was already a commoditized product I would agree with you, and maybe it should be although I haven't seen any papers that directly test the health and safety risks of 222nm. However, it's not a commoditized product, but toxic and dangerous 254nm lamps are. If you tell people UVC lamps are the solution, you're going to have a good chance of going blind the next time you go to the grocery store, and unless you're carrying around an ultraviolet spetrometer you won't be able to tell the difference before it's too late.
Michael Cooper
so the goal posts have moved from 'this will never work' to 'we cant tell dumb people about it'
Jeremiah Nelson
The purpose as I see it would be to clear rooms of airborne viruses, rather than to replace washing hands. You'd maintain a clean air environment in large public spaces. Yeah this is fair enough. I was thinking you'd have to talk about them quite carefully, and give it a name like "Krypton Lamp" or something. Production would need to be strictly standardised.
Anthony Powell
Having two points isn't moving the goalpost: 1) It won't work for disinfecting people, just air 2) If you tell people about it before it's commercially-ready dumb people will blind and poison us all I stand by both
Yeah, I think we are in agreement as to the air thing. I think it's promising, but I'd like to see more health studies before exposing millions of people to radiation few have ever been exposed to.
Connor Harris
Remove portion of patients blood, centrifuge to remove cells, return cells to body.
Expose plasma to flow-through UV device. Virus inactivated. Return plasma to patient.
