Yes, i read a study on mushrooms, this was done in the 90's, people who used them to induce hallucination and later described themselves as becoming more open minded. Scans showed that the use of the mushrooms damaged a part of the brain. There where no numbers on the amounts of people who suffers this or how long a person would need to use these mushrooms to get this damage. I would guess that those that did not suffer this did not have the same experience and might not have continued to use them.
I was wondering at the time if LSD caused similar damage but could not find any study on it.
But it would explain the 60-70's hippy phenomenon and why various governments where so afraid of the use of drugs like this.
