The brokers, who are essentially middle men between the shipper and the trucking company/owner operator, are paying jack shit to do the deliveries. A lot of drivers are just staying home because the rates are so bad, they only cover fuel costs to move the freight around. No point putting wear and tear, and leaving the house for weeks at a time, to just break even. The shutdown is beginning to affect the trucking industry in a very real way.
