The real reason this is disturbing (if true and not just fake, racist bullshit) is not so much that cats are being killed, or the 'sancity of life' whatever the hell that actually means (why is it okay to murder countless plants but not animals for food? They are alive, they react to stimuli (a Kind of pain response)), it's disturbing because it is so senseless. This isn't a cure. There isn't one. So they aren't even eating them, just killing them for no reason.

I don't want to sound like a vegan user, but many children grow up in these places where, their first experience with meeting a animal seen by us as a pet is as slices of meat on a plate. So they first meet those animals as food on their plates, then later as animals in real life. So they see all animals due to this, just like we see a cow or a chicken. We understand they are cute, but also that they are delicious and serve a purpose after death. As for the animal cruelty, no idea. I guess they think since they eat them regularly, beating them up isn't any different.
