It's been found that North-western Europeans from the 1860's-1910's had an average IQ between 110 and 115 (Germans held first place). This would mean that their "college class" had an IQ a bit higher than highly proficient lawyers. It isn't just us, we really have devolved.
There has to be a serious discussion about this decline.
Smartphones, social media, T.V, pop-culture. All of these decrease IQ.
Gabriel Bell
Lawyers today* It should also be noted that the upper class - meaning our ruling nobles, landholders and merchants would probably have been classified as sub-genius. How crazy is that? Not to mention, the average IQ for East Asians is 105, but they've mostly capped off after a long period of incline.
I don't doubt the basic idea, we definitely seem to be getting dumber. But what is your source? We didn't even have IQ tests then.
Bentley Bennett
135 here. I feel ridiculously alone in the world.
Ryan Russell
I have about 115 IQ and I would gladly give my life if it also meant everyone else with an IQ of ~115 or below just disappeared.

>implying he wouldn't happily die for the benefit of humanity Typical fuckin leaf.

Well let's look at this scientifically. What changed? Are we not challenging ourselves anymore? Is it all the gadgets and devices drawing our attention, instead of us picking up a book?
Nolan Brown
Since the dawn of time my dude. Stupid poor people shit out many more kids on average than well off smart people.
Connor Martin
Yas Forums is the only place I can find anyone who thinks remotely like I do. Part of it IQ, but a lot of it is just personality traits. Being an INTJ/INTP I cannot fucking stand normies.
Jonathan Price
>Are we not challenging ourselves anymore? We’re challenging the wrong things. We’re challenging scientific study and education and making it dumber for the rest of the world. See: Common Core

I’ve got a 140 and I have to drink alcohol to even relate to average people.

That doesn't make any sense, we didn't become the smartest animal on earth by dysgenic breeding. It probably started in the 17 or 1800s with the industrial revolution.

I doubt I fall below that mark, but if I do Our generation must suffer so the future generations don't have worse problems.

If we can consider MBTI as a trusted personality descriptor (which I would advise against, take the big 5 personality test rather), I'd be an INFJ which makes me even more rare.
It is what it is, I've been born this way and will go to the grave this way. What's inbetween is only up to me, and I'll try to make the best of it.
I can suggest the same to you.

You can use the craftsmanship, writing, to some extent artistic ability and a few other things to give a sense of what the IQ was for people even in the neolithic area and beyond. livescience.com/65003-how-smart-were-neanderthals.html

Classic move. This topic should be discussed but I do realise why it isn't very popular discussion to be had.
Jose Reyes
It's probably a bit of both. But I would put more emphasis on environmental factors. I imagine modern information technology has really fucked up our ability to focus our energies. We should also consider how valid this data is. I imagine we probably aren't looking at the exact same type of IQ tests between periods.
Jason Wilson
135 as well, doesn't mean shit
Isaiah Powell
Nigga we’ve been dysgenic for many millennia. It’s only that the smart or the strong were able to prosper despite not breeding nearly as much.
Easton Phillips
same here. iq fucks your social skill because social skills help brainlets not crush each other skulls.

I read somewhere that above one STD the normal levels, people get ostracised just for being smarter (or dumber) than the average. Being smarter also makes one more prone to being autistic and/or OCD. I certainly can second this, but because I am older, I had to learn to develop my skills. When I was younger, nobody would make the statement that I'm "not average". It's a struggle but worth it, though dealing with people is still not my jam. I just do it when it's necessary, and got efficient at it.

I think it has to do with our "chemical problem." So many cognitive differences can be seen in the culture and life of the people that adopt different diets and habits. As far as I can tell, it started around late industrialization when preservatives and bad stuff in food started to be more commonly used to mass produce commodities. You can actually tell the difference in music around the time coffee (caffeine) hits an area. What about other chemicals and food/drink?
retarded mix breeding, vaccines and epigenetic vitamin deficiencies

We have gotten collectively smarter while at the same time getting individually less knowledgeable. It's the price civilization pays for advancing. I have no idea how to hunt and clean an animal for food or build a house with my bare hands because I don't have to. However, because I don't have to, I can study engineering and use my intelligence to contribute one tiny piece to the advancement of humanity. Look at an iPhone....I know the basics of how it works as far as the electrical current, batteries, LEDs, etc. But I can't build one all by myself. I'd wager that there are few who can. All of our technological advancements that make up the civilization we now enjoy are a culmination of MANY people each specializing in a very narrow field working together OVER TIME in order to INCREMENTALLY move things forward. Maybe things will change once we have neural implants to give us better memory and such, but even then we will be relying on technology for knowledge. It used to be that the ancient Greek poets MEMORIZED everything. Now we don't have to because we have more permanent means of storing information. It's a good thing too, because there is so much information now that a single human mind probably couldn't contain it. Even if you study only one specific thing for your entire lifetime, you can't keep up with the increase in information about that topic because things are advancing faster than they ever have before in the known history of our species.
Easton Barnes
IQ is rebased every few years because it is a bell curve. By definition 100 IQ is average. Intelligence quotient was defined in 1912 and therefore your claim to know the IQs of people from that time period is ridiculous.
People have been increasingly good at solving IQ tests from inception, regardless of where they are from. It is a total myth that people have been decreasing in IQ. The fact no-one in this thread is aware of that is a joke.
Daniel Walker
Think about it... We know with absolute certainty the effects of malnutrition, especially specific nutrients like iodine, iron, magnesium + we have info about the effects of chemicals on the brain and behavior from centuries accumulated medical studies. We know we have a bad diet now and we know there was a time we didn't. We have tons of data showing us we have a bad diet today and not only does it decay our teeth, cause heart and blood problems and basically effect every area of the body - but clearly due to mental health issue rates rising, we have a ton of problems with the brain too.
What if we literally, through biological elements other than genes - chemically - devolved by adapting a dysgenic diet that lead to, and was not first influenced by a dysgenic way of life?
>drink >final feel like you're part of the human race How do I achieve this feeling without becoming an alcoholic?

if you test only people who produced exceptional works then guess what results you will get? Aren't the smartest are you? There are plenty of people with exceptional high IQ today, there is no shortage on smart white people anywhere. The problem is the capitalist system of continually forcing open borders on the entire West. Reminder that white men are still the pinnacle of science. TV dinners ruined everything
-No more dinner discussions -No nutrients -Convenience at the sacrifice of cooking skills helped push women into the work place -No pride for preparing a meal -No thanking God for the daily bread -Sat in front of propaganda box (which is bad for digestion as it is)
