What caused the decline of American infrastructure?

In all of history the military and territorial and spiritual decline of a nation begins when their expenses begin to outweigh their income. In ancient Rome they still had all their infrastructure, but could no longer maintain it.

Where was all the wealth going? Same place it always goes: to the rich. At the beginning of Rome, the Patrician class had 10x the wealth of the average Roman. At the end of Rome, over 10,000x. Where else do we see this kind of wealth disparity?

When the nation is dead and over and there is no future what it the point of infrastructure?

Local government Pocketing money and their own Regulations making it financially impossible to demolish and rebuild.

Damn thats spot on

To put simply, corporativism. It's the thing communists are allied to, and also the same thing they condemn as being "the ills of capitalism".

And to be honest, a big part of this aesthetic issue is that the roads are built for cars, not people.

Cars

The central bankers fiat debt based economy. As their systems reaches it’s end less is spent on infrastructure.
