This. Yas Forums needs to get on board with the UBI train and so should most Republicans/Conservatives. Most Democrats/Liberals are against it even, so it would be a chance to jump in front of them on something that is simply inevitable and the only way of saving the economy.
Also if conservatives are the ones pushing it then they can control how it works. EG, do illegal immigrants get it (no) do families that shit out a dozen kids get UBI for each kid (no). UBI is great and all but the VAT is fucking mandatory. It's insane we don't have a VAT to fund social services like healthcare in a first world country. VAT actually extracts tax money from tax dodging scumbag corps like Amazon. UBI prevents the little guy from losing with the increased taxes.

it maybe could if our government wasnt super corrupt. when you factor in the corruption ANY new government spending is just going to exacerbate any problems we have, not help. a better solution would be the tax reform trump had campaigned on but has been stonewalled from doing where he wanted to reduce the tax paperwork to the size of a postcard for the average person and reduce taxes for the lowest bracket to zero. but that got fucked over before he even got into office.

tax reform where we dont waste time nickle and dime'ing the poor only to give them refunds later would save so much time and money and paperwork and allow the IRS to focus on big fish tax fraud instead. but again, corruption won out. corruption is the #1 problem and before thats at all fixed, any attempt at any kind of tax reform and/or ubi etc etc etc will always always always just become a corrupted mess that ends up allowing the political class to find new ways to steal from productive people so no point in pushing for any major changes until they're all swinging from lamp posts.
