I ran a Call of Cthulhu game like this. The Nazis had found several of the standard propaganda relics (Spear of Longinus, etc) and had hidden them before the end of the war. A bunch of neo-Nazis who were trying to expose death cultists in the current government found out about the relics and were going to use them to stop the cultists' attempt to bring about the end of the earth. My players were such hardcore leftists IRL that they just couldn't fathom cooperating with Nazis in the game, even after I railroaded the shit out of them, that they fucked the game up by attempting to take on the cultists on their own and caused the end of the world.
