Look man. I can write you a whole god damn essay and recommend dozens of studies from both sides but since you are spazzing out like a nationalistic monkey WITHOUT foreknowledge, I will give you a brief rundown. Joseon dynasty was a fucking dying nation, rotting from within. It COULD HAVE modernized itself, but considering the political climate in the region, surrounded by Russia, Japan and China, it was extremely UNLIKELY that it would survive on its own without foreign help. When the Japanese came, so called "pro Japanese traitors" welcomed their rule, because they genuinely believed in the cause: "restoration of Joseon, Eastern People's pride (inferiority derving from western people)". People now lack the idea of "Eastern People", but people back then thought "Asians" as a big fucking group, thus "Greater Eastern Asian Co Sphere". Convoluted but sound Japanese Imperial Propaganda. Many of so called traitors return being "Korean" again when they realized such dream cannot be realized. Modernization kicks in, railroads, generators and factories are built. People are "seemingly" happy, but discriminations in the system are here and there. Statistics show drastic increase in population. What the fuck happened then? Well, modernization wasn't perfect. People were forced to abandon their family name, mother tongue, pay more taxes, and were not allowed to vote. (Japan retained some form of constitutional monarchy until the end of Taisho democracy period. Koreans got to vote in like 1944 or 1945) Under the context that they are "imperial citizen" people were drafted into the army. Some volunteered to be offciers for better life. Of course, this meant that some people were happy, some were not. Kanto massacre really pissed people off but political concessions were made. Resistance was present here and there but guess what? It wasn't that fucking unstable, and stayed up and running till the war ended.

cont. Even then Pacific War time taxes were so severe that Korean GDP dropped back to 10% of 1910's by 1945. This is some major bullshit. The war ends. Japan releases Korea and it's divided. Both governments start blaming the Japanese because that's what all other newly liberated nations do to justify their rule. Because most of the infrastructures and factories were concentrated in the North to help Sino-Japanese war, South was piss fucking poor and had to buy electricity from the Norks. It was so weak to the point Norks thought it was worth the risk and Korean war happened. They failed and both nations literally became piles of stinking shit. US bombers literally leveled everything down, and Norks lost all the factories and generators. So when peopel ask was there modernization? It's YES AND NO because everything was fucking gone unlike Taiwanese who are thankful of Japanese rule. Korean war ended and reconstruction of Korea began. Lee Seong Man superficially tried to eliminate "traitors" but he didn't. He rehired former Japanese elites because he thought their skills were essential which was partially true to maintaining already war torn fragile Korea. Then he cheated in election and was found out and came the dictator, Park Jeong Hee. He was a smart man because he kept the anti Japanese sentiment through propaganda and education because revanchism was so easy to use and yet, he acted friendly towards Japanese businessmen and diplomats. Guess where he got all the moeny from to build factories and steelworks in war torn Korea. (which was supposed to go to war victims but he lied and took all the moeny for nation building anyway) Reconstruction of Korea is undeniably done by Koreans themselves, but there were lots of Japanese money involved enough to make them think they are done with reparations. Most Korean elites back then were edcuated in JAPAN thanks to Lee Seong Man's half hearted traitor purge Did Japan build and modernize our nation? Yes and no
How many days does it take Korea to be unified? Four days? Five days?
Jaxon Cox
actually take time to read what he said. its really accurate and pretty much sums up everything from our perceptive. get that kike cock out of ur mouth and read for once.
Adrian Baker

Nathaniel Flores
Why do you gooks hate ainus?
Chase Diaz
I know about Ilchinhoe and how the Japs betrayed them and disbanded them once they took power.. I still find that meme funny.
Is it because they have bigger chin chins than you?
Owen Wright
>big dick well the pots calling the kettle nigger, eh?
Leo Rogers
but if you say Koreans are niggers in nhk you're better off dead

Reminder that Ko Yong-hui is japanese that means kim yong un and his sister kim yo-jong are both half japanese and are the rightful heir of the korean state of Japan.
The Kanto massacre sounds like a big deal and I'd understand if Koreans held a grudge against the Japanese because of that. I honestly didn't know the Japs had a side like that to them.
But after Korea became independent it's kinda hard to take their side since they went off against the Japanese while also taking their money for growth. I'm sure it's what they had to do and that's fine, but if South Korea became the great nation it is today at least partially because of Japanese money and education, what right do you still have to rebel against them?
Camden Morris
Imagine being this obsessed, lmao. South Korea are the niggers out South-east Asia.
Do you know the Korean falk song "Arirang"? It's like a national anthem for Korean people. Interesting thing is the word "Arirang" doen't make any sense in Korean language, but it make sense in a language of Evenks. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evenks
Why are you lying? modernization happened when japan colonized you. Population boom is confirmed in korea under japan rule. Queen ming was pro russia and selling the country away until she was killed by japs.

We don't. Park Jeong Hee stole all the money that was supposed to go to war victims individually. Government was supposed to distribute it but it all went to constructions. People see these reparation money deals unjust because it was done by a dictator without prior discussion with the victims. There are also terminology problems in the deal regarding internation laws which are so fucked up beyond comprehension. Anti Jap policy continued. But hey, when Kim Dae Joong was elected, he was so progressive that he said we should reconcile with Japanese and everyone agreed back then even with pre existing victim mentality. But here's the problem. Japan on the national level, is not sorry to Korea. They were more like "are we cool now"? They openly deny war crimes (you should know this because some dutch were comfort women and it's hard to think they did it willingly), venerate war criminals in shrines, down play those in text books, refuse to apologize whatsoever. They are demilitarized for past actions but voice of remilitarization is getting bigger day by day. We see them as potential threat as much as China and Norks.
