Gen X slacker here who dabbles in coding and networking - self-taught. The world wide web is a scintillating place to be. I'd like very much to set up an interesting and dynamic website that can detect whether a user is male or female and exclude the latter from participating in the platform.

I got a programming job without a degree and we just hired a guy who did Openclassrooms.

Computer science/Mathematics/Informatics degrees are great. Other than that, you are better off doing Economics or Law to have a respected job. Sorry, but coder is like "digital plumber", which is ok if you don't care about social standing.

Computer science, no. Informatics is good when you combine it with other education that utilizes it like data mining or biology, for examples. Math will always be relevant. You can get a computer science level degree without paying tuition tier money.
