I hear this a lot but something doesn't make sense to me. Most slave tasks didn't require explosive speed or immense strength. Being generally healthy and having decent endurance were probably good traits for a slave doing repetitive work under a hot sun all day, but you don't need to be Mike Tyson or Kobe Bryant to pick cotton or drain a swamp. There might have been a few select tasks that needed extremely fit labor, but not for the bulk of what slaves did.
If anything, I think slaves would have been selected for docility, fear, and low maintenance instead of size or strength. But those traits are not really prevalent among slave descendants.
