while there uses to be thousands or millions of sites people used to visit now the whole internet is filtered by about a dozen sites people visit.

There's an internet still out there, it's just filtered out of most search engines intentionally or shuffled to the bottom pages under websites
that pay to be elevated.

People like me who lived through that transition of the surface web/deep web split got caught off guard by it. We never thought soft censorship
and hostile corporate takeover would happen via search engines, but it sure did.

If someone talked about eating out ass even 10 years ago, people would have thought they were creepy, insane, or sexually deranged. Now it’s just like any other thing. Is this accelerating? What insane thing will be normal in 10 years? How many levels of magnitude will it be stranger than eating ass, or lolis, or feet?

beyond that, there are still obscure forums out there that cater to your specific interests, you just have to try harder to find it now because you can't really google stuff like you used to. Back in the 00's you could hop on google and take a ride through all sorts of weird corners of the internet, now when you google something, virtually every single result is someone trying to to sell you something. Now if people want to talk to strangers on the internet they go to their favorite social media site or gaming server.
